Embratur articulates return of direct flights between northeast and New York
Delta Airlines and American Airlines have shown interest in the flights. The ruites approbation will be discussed with Government of Pernambuco
Embratur CEO Gilson Machado Neto is holding a series of meetings this week to encourage foreign tourists to arrive in the northeast of the country. At meetings with the Pernambuco Government and US airlines, Gilson will act to resolve technical deadlocks and reactivate direct flights between the region and New York in the United States.
“Everyone knows the importance that Embratur and the Federal Government attach to improving the air network, especially in tourist regions. Recife International Airport is strategically located and will be a very important hub for foreigners to visit our northeastern coast. I've had some meetings with those involved, there is demand and interest from both parties, I believe we will have a happy ending, ”he said.
Gilson Machado recalled that the Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion will act to expand the disclosure of visa exemption for tourism in Brazil. “Preliminary data point to a 32% growth in US interest in visiting our country. We have unique natural beauty, 365 days of sunshine and no natural disasters. All of this, combined, will be a success. ”
Embratur expects the decision, or a pre-agreement, to take place by Friday (17).
