Matías Lammens inaugurates Argentina´s booth at FITUR

The Minister of Tourism and Sports highlighted the great presence of authorities and businessmen of the country at the fair

Speaking to the press, Minister Lammens stressed that Argentina "has a very strong, very strong private sector, which has spent four very hard years, because the activity fell so much."

“However, today we have a 50 percent increase in registrations from one year to another at FITUR and that speaks to the expectation generated by our management. We will work hard to live up to these expectations, ”he said.

He added that one of the issues that "excite him" is precisely "see how it accompanies the private sector, with its more than 5,500 travel agencies, more than 20,000 restaurants, more than 15,000 hotels and accommodations" and stressed that it is " a very thriving sector, which generates a lot of employment and we have to take care a lot ”.

During this first day of the FITUR, exclusively for professionals in the field, he attended the signing of an agreement between Aerolineas Argentinas and the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agents (CEAV) to finalize joint actions. Aerolineas Argentinas will have ten weekly frequencies to Madrid as of June 29.

Lammens met with the executive secretary of the Ministry of Tourism of Brazil, Daniel Diniz Nepomuceno and then held a meeting at the stand of Paraguay with representatives of the UNWTO, regarding the celebration of International Tourism Day 2020 (September 27) .

He also met with the Minister of Tourism of Cuba, Juan Carlos García Granda, met with executives of eDreams Odigeo (one of the most important travel agency in Europe), and finally with the highest authorities of the IAG group (International Airlines Group) .

FITUR is the leading fair for the receptive and issuing markets of Latin America, which every year more than 10,000 companies from all over the world attend, with more than 250,000 visitors between professionals and the general public.
