Iberia will promote Costa Rica in Italy and Israel

María Amalia Revelo, Minister of Tourism of Costa Rica has met today during the first day of FITUR with Luis Gallego, president of Iberia. An agreement was signed there to expand the connectivity of the Central American country with Europe.
"The signing of this agreement marks the first steps to expand connectivity with European markets such as Italy and potential interest markets such as Israel from Madrid," said Revelo.
The Minister recalled that more than four decades ago Iberia connected Costa Rica with Europe for the first time with a direct flight and has remained constant over time uninterruptedly, offering high quality air transport services, which will now be expanded with new connection opportunities to Italy and Israel.
“We are very happy to sign this agreement that will allow us to connect new origins through our Madrid hub and reach Costa Rica, stimulating this important message for us now with the incorporation of the new A350 aircraft,” said Luis Gallego, after The signing of the agreement.
According to the directors of the Spanish airline, in 2020 it will offer about 230,000 seats between San José and Madrid. In addition, to materialize the agreement, the airline has fourteen connections to destinations in Italy-Bari, Bologna, Catania, Cagliari Florence, Genoa, Milan, Naples, Olbia, Palermo, Rome, Turin, Venice and Verona which would ensure better connectivity with Costa Rica.
Additionally, the company offers a daily and direct flight from Tel Aviv to Madrid, which will allow better connections with the flight to San José de Costa Rica.

Alliance Expansion
This promotional campaign will be an extension of a promotional agreement with Iberia signed the previous year, it will add different promotional actions through Iberia's communication channels such as Ronda Iberia magazine, its social media profiles or through www.iberia.com, stimulating the occupation of seats or seats from Spanish marketing, but also with the aim of expanding connections between different cities in Italy, Madrid and San José, as well as from Tel-Aviv, Madrid and San José.
The Costa Rican Tourism Institute will expand the current cooperative campaign for the joint promotion of the destination with Iberia, created for three years and including this new agreement, even with an additional investment to be defined.
In 2019, almost 70,000 Spaniards visited Costa Rica according to data from the General Directorate of Migration and Foreigners processed by the ICT. In the case of the Italians and Israelis, the arrival of 30 196 and 14 869 visitors was recorded respectively.
From mid-December until the end of March, Iberia has programmed its new Airbus A350 - the most advanced aircraft in its fleet - on the San José - Madrid route.
Precisely the presentation of the Airbus A350 in Costa Rica was attended by the President of the Republic, Carlos Alvarado, who was flying with Iberia that day and from his twitter profile informed Iberia's commitment to Costa Rica to reach the country with its most advanced aircraft.
According to Iberia, these months of operation with the Airbus A350 in Costa Rica, are allowing Iberia to announce among its customers the magnificent features of this aircraft in addition to the new Premium Tourist cabin with which it is equipped.
