The ANATO Tourist Showcase continues to boost tourism growth
It is expected that for this edition of the event, the most important in Colombia, business contacts will increase
According to the most recent Barometer of the World Tourism Organization -OMT- throughout 2019 there were 1,500 international tourist arrivals in the world, which meant a growth of 4% compared to the previous year. It is worth noting that although there was such growth it turned out to be lower than that revealed in 2017 (7%) and 2018 (6%). The increase by region was presented as follows: Middle East, 8%, Asia Pacific, 5%, Europe, 4%, Africa, 4% and Americas, 2%.
“The figures in tourism have generally been increasing, and for that purpose the Tourist Showcase has been an ideal space, given that businessmen from more than 35 countries meet annually in Bogotá to make the travel offer more attractive. We must work to promote the industry in the region to achieve a higher growth rate. We want professionals in the sector to find more opportunity to market their products, ”said Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.
It is expected that for this version of the event, the most important in the sector in Colombia, business contacts will increase.
“We have made a very big effort, in the hands of ProColombia, the industry associations, the Travel Agencies and all the industry players, to strengthen the promotion of our destinations. The achievements have been many, but we must continue adding actions to achieve more and make the world know the wealth of our country, ”said the union leader.
Taking into account the positive trends in the sector, UNWTO expects a growth of between 3% and 4% in the arrival of foreign visitors worldwide by the end of 2020.
