Meliá appoints new General Area Director in Dominican Rep.
With a long history in the hotel sector, Santiago Rivera brings twenty years of experience to his new position in the company
Meliá Hotels International (MHI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Santiago Rivera as General Director of the Area of MHI hotels in the Dominican Republic. In his new position, Rivera will not only run the resorts in the Dominican Republic, but also other Meliá businesses such as casinos, the golf course and the operations of the vacation club. In this unique position, Rivera will oversee the Meliá Punta Cana Beach Resort, Meliá Caribe Beach Resort, Paradisus Punta Cana Resort, Paradisus Palma Real Golf & Spa Resort and The Grand Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real hotels. Rivera, with this greater responsibility, will continue to promote the strong presence of Meliá Hotels International in the region.
From his previous position as General Director of Meliá Caribe Beach and Meliá Punta Cana Beach, Rivera brings almost two decades of experience and leadership in the field of hospitality to his new position as General Director of Area in the Dominican Republic. Santiago Rivera joined Meliá's team in 1999 and since then he has continued his ascent within the company, working in other tourist resorts such as Paradisus Cancun, Meliá Benidorm, Gran Meliá Shanghai Hotel and Paradisus Playa Del Carmen La Esmeralda.

Rivera graduated from the Hospitality Center of Galicia, in Spain, and began his career in hospitality with Meliá Hotels International when he joined the team at Hotel Confort Los Galeones. Rivera has worked in hotels in Africa, Europe, Asia and America, and throughout his career he has been able to fully immerse himself in the cultures and styles of hotel management in each region, which has provided him with a solid international background. His deep understanding of hospitality combined with his outstanding interpersonal leadership skills make him a valuable asset for this new position.
