The minister of Tourism, Marcelo Álvaro Antônio, participated this Wednesday (20.05) in the program Live do Tempo, of the newspaper O Tempo, from Minas Gerais, where he affirmed that he completed the first stage of actions to save the country's tourism. According to him, all efforts made by Pasta were built in partnership with the trade - one of the most affected by the new coronavirus pandemic - and other government actors. Among the measures are the regulation of the cancellation and refund of tourist packages and airline tickets and the release of an extraordinary credit of R $ 5 billion through Fungetur.
During the interview, Álvaro Antônio pointed out that the Federal Government's actions were praised by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), and that he will spare no effort to keep the sector in the country steady. “Brazil had its actions very well evaluated by the WTTC, with them we concluded the first stage of saving the sector. I hope that tourism can, in this resumption, take place in the best possible way. This is our struggle and our mission. We are optimistic that we will resume the growth of Brazil and the generation of jobs and income for our population ”, he said.
The release of R $ 5 billion through Fungetur was one of the main topics addressed. According to the minister, the idea is that within a maximum period of 7 to 10 days, the resource will be available at the end, given the MEI's, micro, small, medium and large enterprises. About the “Protected Tourism” seal, Álvaro Antônio pointed out that he will need to count on the participation of the population in the inspection of establishments that are not complying with sanitary hygiene rules.
Still in the interview, Álvaro Antônio spoke about the importance of road tourism in this resumption of the sector. “We want to reorganize the country's road tourism. We are going to use Investe Turismo, and place a terminal similar to an airport on the 30 routes on which the program is being developed, to make connectivity between destinations ”, he added.
