Marriott International launches Rooms for Responders Mexico
The hotel chain has joined efforts with Banorte Banco and Mastercard International to generate a free stay program for health personnel to fight against COVID-19
Marriott International, Grupo Financiero Banorte and Mastercard International announced today that the companies have partnered to provide free hotel stays with an initiative called Rooms For Responders Mexico.
Rooms for Responders is a Marriott International program, initially launched in the United States, that offers free rooms to healthcare professionals who are leading the fight against COVID-19. With the support of Banorte and Mastercard International, Marriott International is now expanding the initiative to Mexico to some of the most affected areas, including Mexico City, Querétaro, Puebla and León. Regardless of whether doctors and nurses live locally or have traveled to support crowded hospitals, the initiative offers them the option of staying in a participating hotel, helping to ease their concerns about the well-being of loved ones in the home.
"We are grateful for all the work and support of our health heroes in Mexico and around the world and we understand that to overcome this devastating crisis we must all unite," said Tim Sheldon, president of Marriott International, Caribbean and Latin America. "Being able to make free rooms available with the support of MasterCard International and Banorte is very exciting and we look forward to giving these service providers a little respite in this way."
To implement this initiative, Marriott International is collaborating with the Mexican Society of Cardiology, the Mexican Society of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, and the Mexican Academy of Surgery to benefit doctors and nurses associated with these organizations with free accommodation in the properties participants.
Carlos Hank González, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Financiero Banorte, commented: “As a Mexican bank, we are committed to the well-being of all of society. We are also convinced that we could not face this contingency without the selfless contribution of health workers. Therefore, through this alliance with Marriott International and Mastercard, we want to support their courageous work. "Banorte has launched other initiatives to support those affected by COVID-19, such as a deferral program for credit payments, a digital account Completely free and a support program for small and medium businesses.
“At Mastercard we appreciate the work, effort and dedication of healthcare workers who seek to offer quality service despite all the challenges. We recognize the partnership with Marriott International and Banorte as an exceptional commitment to act locally, through an initiative that addresses the current situation from a proactive and action-driven perspective. We are very proud to be part of this project ”, mentioned Laura Cruz, Country Manager of Mastercard México.
In a separate effort for front-line healthcare workers, Marriott International teamed up with several hotel owners and franchise partners in early April to launch the Community Caregiver Program. Available in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America, including Mexico, this initiative offers significantly discounted rates for first responders and healthcare professionals who wish to reserve rooms in hotels near the hospitals where they work.
With these initiatives, Marriott International and its partners have a common goal: to support the front-line heroes who support us selflessly. This joint initiative between Marriott International, Banorte and Mastercard International is the first among companies, which continue to explore more ways to work together for the common good.
