Spirit Airlines resumes nearly 40 routes from Fort Lauderdale
The airline is expanding its flight availability, taking its operation in Fort Lauderdale from an average of five daily flights in May to an estimated 60 daily flights in July
Spirit Airlines resumes dozens of routes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) after a temporary service reduction. After only offering 13 routes from FLL in May, the airline will offer flights to 32 destinations in June and up to 47 destinations in July, as travel demand increases.
Spirit will also restart service to Guayaquil, Ecuador on June 3, the first commercial flight to Guayaquil since the country closed its borders in mid-March. This will be the first international flight that the airline will operate, outside of its humanitarian flights between the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean. Before traveling to international destinations, Spirit recommends that Passengers check with local governments regarding country-specific requirements for residents and tourists.
"As summer approaches and our destinations begin to open, we have expanded our routes and schedules to be able to offer more flights to our Passengers," said John Kirby, vice president of route planning for Spirit Airlines. "As demand increases, we welcome a number of options, offering our Passengers the opportunity to travel safely and reunite them with family and friends."
