Bariloche: the first mountain with snow activity in Argentina
Cerro Catedral is the first ski center to enable lifts to receive residents with the acquired pass, under strict protocols specially developed by the COVID-19 pandemic
The mountain opened at 9:30 with a thermal sensation in Bariloche was -12ºC and full sun. The influx of public in the first hour was constant. Many season pass residents were eager for the opening of the slopes.
The "gradual" opening of Cerro Catedral will allow entry only to residents who have already purchased the ski pass since the ticket offices will not be open. From the local municipality they clarified that it is the "zero" stage, or training, before a possible opening in the month of August. Therefore, from Wednesday to Sunday, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., some means of lifting the mountain will be enabled only for skiers who already have the pass acquired in the presale.
The gastronomic establishments will be enabled only with the modality of withdrawal in door or "take away", since no commerce in the base will be able to have tables or diners inside.
The shelters and inns of the summit will only work with the bathroom service or for some shelter. In addition, the authorities indicated that special focus will be placed on security measures for climatic and meteorological issues, restricting opening when there is a storm or a strong wind.
The media that will be open in this first stage will be the trunk of Séxtuple, Quadruple, La Hoya, TK Centro, Princesa I and II, and Cóndor I and magic carpets 3 and 4.
This opening stage was jointly coordinated by the municipality, the Cerro Capsa concession company, ski instructors and the AEC (Association of Commerce Employees).
