Air reservations made through travel agencies using the Spanish firm's systems were considerably affected by the pandemic and contracted by 113.2% compared to the same period in 2019


Volumes bottomed out in April and began to show improvement thereafter. Although volumes continued to be negative in April and May (cancellations were higher than gross reservations), air reservations through travel agencies entered positive territory from approximately mid-June, when the level of cancellations began to slow down. We continue to make progress on the NDC program. American Airlines implemented Amadeus Ancillary Services through NDC, so it can now offer seat selection and other complementary services in the travel agency channel.
Two other major airlines have also connected to the Amadeus Travel Platform, one of them through the Amadeus Altéa NDC solution, and will begin testing Amadeus NDC technology to offer complementary products through the travel agency channel.

Technological solutions - airlines
In the second quarter of 2020, Amadeus boarding passengers decreased 93.9% to 31.3 million. Organic volumes of passengers boarded decreased 93.9%, registering contractions in all regions. After marking the year low in April, organic volumes began to improve slightly from May worldwide, especially in North America.
Regarding commercial activity in this segment, despite the ongoing crisis, Amadeus was able to maintain a positive flow of potential contracts and agreements. At the end of June, 212 airlines had contracted one of Amadeus' two passenger management platforms (PSS) (Altéa or New Skies) and 203 had implemented one of them.

New business - technological solutions for airports
Amadeus' airport technology solutions customer base continued to grow, and we noted special interest among customers for its contactless technology.
