Guatemala will reopen its borders on September 18
President Alejandro Giammattei issued new reforms to the provisions regarding the authorization of local and international flights
The Presidency of the Republic published this Thursday, September 10, the new provisions that will govern the country as of September 18.
The locomotion, circulation and transit of the inhabitants to any place in the Republic of Guatemala, by land, air, sea (sea, lake, river) is restricted, in relation to any type of travel or transfer of a recreational, social or family.
National (local) and international flights will be allowed, duly authorized from or to runways registered with the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics.
In relation to national security and the entry and exit of people from the Republic of Guatemala, the opening of air, land and sea borders throughout the national territory is determined, with the following obligations and conditions:
Any person entering or leaving the territory of the Republic must abide by and comply with the provisions issued by the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance and the health protocols of each entity responsible for immigration, security and administrative procedures at the border, port or airport.
The superior authority and / or the superior administrative authority of each public entity that contemplates the entry and exit of persons from the national territory, are responsible for the issuance, authorization, disclosure and application of the corresponding health protocols.
The pilots and all the transportation crew must comply with the sanitary provisions issued by the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance and the border entity, port or airport to arrive, depart or stay in the Republic of Guatemala.
