Paracas will be an attractive "anchor" in a forthcoming reactivation of Peruvian tourism
Minister Rocío Barrios visited the area and carried out a series of activities with a view to the reopening
The Minister carried out an inspection of various hotels located in said spa, in the case of Paracas Luxury and Hotel Hilton. There she supervised the biosecurity protocols that have been implemented to protect the health of workers, guests and suppliers.
The official indicated that the main objective of her tour was to generate trust in the agents of the sector, that is, hotels, travel agencies, among others.
“Although there are five priority regions for the next reactivation of tourism (Loreto, Ucayali, Piura, Lambayeque and Tumbes), other regions must also be ready to receive visitors, as long as the contagion levels decrease and the Government authorizes it. We must all be committed to a responsible economic reactivation ”, explained the minister.
It is important to mention that the province of Pisco is serving a targeted quarantine period until September 30, due to the high incidence of COVID-19 infections.
During her stay in Paracas, Minister Rocío Barrios carried out a series of activities. Thus he inspected the Peruvian Navy Ship (BAP) Unión, which will soon be conditioned to be an important driver of domestic tourism.
As recalled, the main sail of the BAP Unión bears the seal of the Peru Brand. Before the pandemic, I made traveling presentations abroad to publicize our main tourist attractions and star export products.
It should be noted that the head of the Mincetur later arrived in the city of Chincha. There he inspected compliance with the biosafety protocols in the exporting company Textil del Valle.
According to the Foreign Tourist Profile, Ica was the sixth region with the highest influx of foreign tourists.
In the period January - June 2020, the arrival of visitors to the Paracas National Reserve was 199,418 visitors. This figure is 32.7% lower than last year.
The Ica region represents around 4% of the national accommodation offer. As of the first half of 2020, it is estimated that arrivals to establishments in the region decreased 51.9%.
