Wyndham Hotels & Resorts boosts domestic tourism in Colombia
The hotel chain innovates by launching an initiative focused on encouraging the return of travelers and the recovery of hotels
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts presents the “Puertas Abiertas” program, offers guests the options of fixed rate per room for a full month, covering the 1st to the 30th of October in the case of Colombia, and the possibility of traveling in Colombia period from the 1st of October to the 31st of December of this year. In the region, a total of 132 hotels participate in the initiative, including in Colombia 8.
“Puertas Abiertas is a promotion designed for the reopening of hotels, which mainly caters to the local travel market, which generally uses ground transportation in general, which does not necessarily depend on the plane to transfer,” explained Jimena Faena, Vice President de Marketing, Comunicación y Lealtad de Wyndham Hotels & Resorts para Latinoamérica y el Caribe.
The initiative has been launched throughout the region, from where the company operates more than 220 hotels, in each country it has its particularities and times of implementation, according to the safety and hygiene protocols established by local gobiernos. Furthermore, it is consistent with the strategy of democratization of travel that has always promoted WH&R at a global level, seeking to make it possible to stay in a hotel for everyone.
"This is the first time that Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has implemented a single initiative of this type, we believe that with it a planning option is offered to people who, with security, would like to return to travel as soon as possible," added Faena.
In Colombia, the “Puertas Abiertas” campaign offers the following rates: 159,000 and 187,000 pesos, equivalent to 42.71 and 50.23 dollars, respectively. Since June this year, the company has launched “Count on UsSM or Cuenta con Nosotros”, a wide-ranging multifaceted initiative that seeks to generate trust among guests and support hotels in Colombia and the rest of the world to get back to receiving the travelers. "Wyndham developed safety and hygiene protocols so that the experience of travelers (in this regression) is very placent, but also very safe," added Faena.
In Colombia, WH&R has a presence in 6 cities with 9 hotels out of 5 out of the 20 brands it manages worldwide. Total properties: 4 TRYP by Wyndham, 2 Wyndham Garden, 1 Howard Johnson, 1 La Quinta, and 1 Wyndham. The hotels are located around 1,250 rooms and are located in Bogotá, Usaquén, Bucaramanga, Medellín, Barranquilla and Villavicencio.
In spite of the crisis caused by Covid-19, the multinational company maintains its expansion plans in the South American country, including the opening of Ramada Encore Bogotá for this year, and the Wyndham Garden Cartagena for 2021.
