Meliá hotels in the USA have a new director of operations
Antonio Báez takes over the Meliá Orlando Celebration and INNSiDE by Meliá New York, promising news for the Latam markets with the long-awaited return of international travel
Antonio Báez, Director of Operations for Meliá Hotels International in the United States, now also assumes direct management of the chain's two hotels in that country: Meliá Orlando Celebration and INNSIDE by Meliá New York. For almost 20 years at the company –the 3rd largest in Europe and a leader in hotels and resorts in Latin America and the Caribbean–, going through various management levels, Baez has arrived to accelerate the recovery of hotels after the most sensitive period of the pandemic.
The change occurs as hotels prepare for the return of international demand. The Latin American audience is a traditional visitor to Meliá Orlando, which is part of Walt Disney World Good Neighbor, a label that designates AAA accommodations near the amusement park complex. INNSIDE by Meliá New York, the brand's flagship hotel in the USA, for its part, is one of the most popular of the German-based bleisure lodging brand, which landed in Lima last year and will arrive in São Paulo at the end of October .
“It will be a pleasure to directly manage these two great products from the Meliá Hotels International portfolio. These are hotels designed to receive the international traveler and which, we hope, will be the objective of Latin Americans when the trips from each country to the United States finally open, ”says Báez.
Born in Spain and with an MBA from the University of Seville, Antonio Báez joined Meliá in 2001 as a senior auditor. Going through areas such as comptroller and property management, he also held the general direction of units such as Paradisus Palma Real and Paradisus Playa del Carmen before reaching the position of Director of Operations for the United States.
