This certification guarantees that all the establishments in the chain audited by Preverisk have passed an intensive program of verification of the set of 17 protocols that were once created by RIU professionals in collaboration with the consulting firm and that served to guide the operation of the hotels in their post-COVID reopening. In addition, this certificate guarantees that all measures aimed at preventing or mitigating the possible spread of COVID-19 outbreaks have been successfully implemented among your guests, staff, and visitors.

A result that from the consultancy they value as "very positive".
The intensive verification process developed by Preverisk includes not only the necessary measures to prevent the spread of the disease in hotels, but also considers the hygiene and safety requirements that must be applied in the establishments for a safe opening to the public. These measures, in addition to complying with the relevant national regulations, are based on international recommendations issued by official bodies such as the World Health Organization and other international organizations such as the Health Protection Agency (HPA), among others.
Through a risk assessment-based approach to examining its operations, Preverisk ensures that these measures have been adapted to the different departments and activities of the audited RIU hotels. Likewise, the consultancy firm confirms that the main procedures to mitigate the possible spread of outbreaks that have been put into practice in the RIU hotels have been properly and effectively applied.
These procedures are divided into two lines of action; on the one hand, which focuses on the review of tasks prior to openings, including essential aspects such as fire safety, gas safety, food hygiene, personnel policies, water systems, hygiene and safety in swimming pools, sewage treatment plants and the use of sewage for the irrigation of green areas, laundry and pest control. And on the other, there are the specific measures of COVID-19 based on social distancing, environmental hygiene (cleaning and disinfection), personal hygiene and use of protective equipment and crisis management procedures and confinement of suspected or confirmed cases.
Since the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic began, RIU had to close its 99 hotels located in 19 countries. To date, the chain has 45 hotels operating in 15 countries and all of them have the guarantee of having successfully passed the intensive verification process developed by Preverisk.
