ExpoCotelco 2020 begins
Tomorrow the National Hospitality Congress begins, it will be held virtually. The organization has prepared an academic agenda under the slogan "Challenges of the hotel industry in Colombia post covid19"
In this version, the Congress will have the participation of important speakers such as Gloria Guevara, president and CEO of the World Travel and Tourism Council, who will open the academic agenda on Tuesday, October 13 at 10:00 am, talking about the new tourist competitiveness in the post covid19 era - challenges and key success factors; Carlos Rabazo, manager of digital transformation of large clients at Telefónica Empresas, who will speak on Wednesday, October 14, about how to make efficient, intelligent and synergistic use of technology to be more competitive in a fully digital sector after the covid19; Fabián Román, founder and president of the Plan21 Foundation for Sustainable Human Development in Argentina, who will give his conference on October 15 with his conference on Sustainability 360 as a common basis for the competitiveness of the Colombian tourism model and its recovery in a 2030 vision; Iván Méndez Rodríguez, national deputy director of the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Gastronomy of the Technological University of Chile (INACAP), who will speak on October 16 about new human talent as a key factor in the competitiveness of the sector.
Additionally, the Congress will have different panels starting on Tuesday 13, with the theme “Post-Covid Scenario - an international vision” in which Maribel Rodríguez, Vice President of WTTC; Helen Kouyoumdijian, Executive Vice President of FEDETUR (Federation of Tourism Companies of Chile); Holbach Muñetón, president of FENECAPTUR (National Federation of Provincial Chambers of Tourism of Ecuador); Jordi Busquets, advisor to FEHGRA (Gastronomic Hotel Business Federation of the Argentine Republic); Mar de Miguel, General Secretariat of AEHM (Madrid Hotel Business Association), panel moderated by Dr. Gustavo A. Toro, national executive president of Cotelco.
The second panel, very important for national tourism, is in which the "Analysis of the project that modifies the Tourism Law" will be carried out, it will have representatives of the different sectors: the Government will be the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism José Manuel Restrepo. On the part of the Legislature will be the Speaker Coordinator of the Sixth Committee in the Senate - Senator Horacio José Serpa; the Representative to the Chamber Rodrigo Rojas Member of the Sixth Commission. Representing the business sector will be the President of Asobares and current Vice President for Latin America of the International Nightlife Association Camilo Ospina Guzmán and the National Executive President of Cotelco Gustavo Toro Velásquez. Panel that will be moderated by the legal director of Cotelco Nacional, Claudia Barreto.
The third panel, made up of experts in tourism in the country, will have the participation of Flavia Santoro, president of Procolombia; Raquel Garavito, president of Fontur and Julián Guerrero, Vice Minister of Tourism, moderated by the national executive president of Cotelco.
The last panel will have the participation of Iván Méndez Rodríguez, deputy national director of the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Gastronomy of the Technological University of Chile; Gabino Diego Díaz Director of the Instituto de Talent de Empresa Digital, Spain; Carlos Mario Estrada Molina General Director of the National Learning Service - SENA; Edna Rozo dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Business Administration of the Externado de Colombia University.
During the Congress, the voice of the national government will be present, represented by the Vice Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Julián Guerrero during the installation ceremony, on Tuesday 13 at 4:00 p.m. And for the closing ceremony, the intervention of the President of the Republic, Iván Duque Márquez, is scheduled on Friday the 16th at 8:30 am, accompanied by the national executive president of Cotelco Gustavo A. Toro Velásquez.
Simultaneously, as is customary, within the framework of the National Hospitality Congress, version 26 of the ExpoCotelco2020 trade show will be held, which will feature the most varied range of specialized products for the hospitality sector, where visitors can learn about its offers and product launches first-hand, as well as being the best space for generating business. Additionally, seminars will be held with suppliers, presented by Cotelco's main allies and commercial agreements, to learn about the application of its products and the different services that will allow greater competitiveness to the players in the sector.
"During this virtual version of our National Congress we expect the participation of more than 2,000 people, including hoteliers, and all the actors of the tourist chain, as well as business leaders from the public - private sector and of course the presence of the media, so that they know the strategic proposals directed to that the national tourism recovers the path of development in the country, after these months in which the sector has been so hit. So we are waiting for you all in our academic agenda and the most important commercial exhibition of the hotel industry and tourism in the country ”, said Gustavo A.
