Mexico advances in the digitization of immigration services

Yesterday a meeting was held between the secretariats and agencies of the federal government with the concessionaires of the airports

 


Convened by the Secretary of the Interior, Olga Sánchez Cordero, together with the Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, this Tuesday the fifth working meeting was held with public servants and authorities of airport groups to address on this occasion the issue of digitization of immigration services.

At the meeting were the Undersecretary for Human Rights, Population and Migration, Alejandro Encinas Rodríguez; the commissioner of the National Institute of Migration (INM), Francisco Garduño Yáñez; and representing the head of the Ministry of Communications and Transportation, Jorge Arganis Díaz Leal, the general director of Vinculation, Javier González Garza; as well as the general director of Airports and Auxiliary Services (ASA), Óscar Artemio Arguello Ruiz, who spoke with airport concessionaires.

During the session held at the Governor's Office, Secretary Olga Sánchez Cordero pointed out that the digitization of migratory services is a historical demand and that the objective is to boost the tourism industry and the economy at the national and local level.

In his opportunity, Secretary Miguel Torruco Marqués pointed out that migration obstacles have to disappear because they take away tourist competitiveness from Mexico, especially because the Covid-19 pandemic is driving tourists away from countries that have migration bottlenecks, which can cause that waiting rooms become sources of contagion.

“The digitization of immigration services at the country's airports is urgent to strengthen the tourist offer in Mexico. Today is the need to offer hygienic-sanitary security, implementing an immigration process as expeditiously as possible, ”he stressed.

The airport concessionaires who participated in the meeting agreed on the need for a new immigration system that is efficient and hygienic.

The INM's General Director of Information and Communication Technologies, Alfredo Hernández García, attended. The Benito Juárez International Airport in Mexico City was attended by the general director, Jesús Rosano García; and the person in charge of the Operations Directorate, Francisco Luis Quiroz Pulido, as well as the coordinator of the ASA Business Unit, Mauricio Omar Arellano Villavicencio.

Also, the general director of Grupo Aeroportuario de la Ciudad de México, Gerardo Ferrando Bravo; and from Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte (OMA) the CEO, Ricardo Dueñas Espriú; and his legal representative, Enrique Navarro Manjarrez.

From Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) the general director, Raúl Revuelta Musalem; the president of the Board of Directors, Laura Diez Barroso Azcárraga; and the Legal Director, Sergio Enrique Flores Ochoa. Likewise, the CEO, Adolfo Castro Rivas, among others, was present from Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR).
