Officials from Central America and the Dominican Republic advance towards the recovery of tourism post COVID-19
Ministers of Tourism of the region together with presidents of the Chambers of Tourism of Central America and the Dominican Republic participated in the LX Ordinary Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Tourism Promotion Agency of Central America (CATA, for its acronym in English) to continue advancing in an environment of mitigation and recovery of regional tourism.
The Board of Directors instructed CATA to continue with promotional actions in international markets in order to deepen and provide timely information on the renewed multi-destination tourism bet.
In this sense, progress will be made in the tourism promotion and marketing strategy of the SICA region, as well as in the action plan for mitigation and recovery 2021-2023 against COVID-19. In the coming months, the region is expected to further strengthen the bridges of collaboration with the issuing markets, through CATA, to continue strengthening the marketing, promotion and innovation of destinations.
In addition, it is proposed to increase actions to support the sector and develop a new role to promote the resilience of large, medium and especially small companies, as well as propose alternative approaches for the promotion of the Central American destination.
CATA will continue to articulate efforts between the public and private sectors of the region, using the necessary tools to guarantee the insertion of Central America and the Dominican Republic in the new dynamics of world tourism, analyzing demand, the behavior of tourists and potential markets.
