Hyatt launches initiative to support local small businesses around the world
Wed November 18, 2020

The objective is to collaborate with enterprises that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic

Driven by Hyatt's purpose of caring for people so they can be their best, Hyatt Hotels Corporation today announced the Hyatt Loves Local Initiative, a chain's global effort to improve and collaborate with small businesses that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nearly 60 hotels and resorts in destinations across the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East provide complementary resources and exposure to select local businesses that have fought through the pandemic. In turn, these businesses can continue to operate in different ways and provide Hyatt guests with different and enriching experiences that foster a meaningful connection to the destination's local community.

In this new travel landscape, Hyatt remains committed to reinventing the hotel experience, going beyond cleanliness to consider all that traveling to the hotel entails. Guided by creativity and care, Hyatt's way forward is to rekindle the joy of travel. Hyatt Loves Local enriches the travel experience and helps strengthen local communities during this unprecedented time.

"By always listening to our guests, members, and supporters, we understand their strong desire to not only experience Hyatt hotel destinations, but also for the opportunity to support local communities," said Amy Weinberg, senior vice president of loyalty at the Hyatt brand, brand and consumer marketing. “We have been caring for the communities in which Hyatt hotels operate for over 60 years, and we are proud that many Hyatt hotels around the world are finding new and creative ways to help their beloved local businesses in this time of need through Hyatt Loves Local ".

From food and wellness to fashion and art, this initiative's community collaborations span a variety of industries and are taking place on properties now and will roll out during the fall. Additionally, as part of Hyatt's Change Starts Here commitment to fostering inclusion and achieving equality together, some Hyatt Loves Local collaborations are with minority businesses, which are more likely to be disproportionately affected by COVID-19.
