Tourist unions of Paraguay highlight SERNATUR's support during the pandemic
The Minister of Tourism, Sofía Montiel Afara, participated in a virtual event with representatives of the tourism sector
On the occasion, the panelists highlighted the constant support of SERNATUR and the efforts of the Minister of Tourism, before other public institutions, to ensure that the sector can recover as soon as possible from the situation that caused the pandemic in national tourism.
At the beginning of the meeting, the head of SERNATUR said that the union of all sectors was fundamental for the achievements in economic and labor matters, and at the country level, with the Safe Travels distinction from the World Travel and Tourism Council.
In general, the intense training received by the tourism sector for a correct and safe reactivation was highlighted, through training and good practices in gastronomy, hotel and non-hotel establishments, MICE tourism and the destination protocol, which are extremely important today.
Likewise, the importance of the Hotel Salud strategy for the hotel sector was highlighted, as well as the work carried out by tourism agencies to create attractive and inexpensive packages for local tourists, and the campaign for the formalization of tourist guides and others related to it.
The organization of the discussion was in charge of the Paraguayan Association of Tourism Professionals (APROTUR-PY). Carlos Cardozo from Asatur, Cecilia Cartes from AIHPY, Oliver Gayet from ARPY, and Guadalupe Viveros from APGT, Juan Rubio from Itapúa-Paraguay Conention & Visitors Bureau participated.
The objective was to present the perspectives, from each union, of how the tourist reactivation is developing, considering the economic, social and, above all, health factors that affect each sector and thus achieve a look towards 2021 identifying actions to perform jointly.
