Mon November 30, 2020

The company leads the reactivation of the sector by being the first Mexican airline that grows more than last year with an increase of 10% in its operating capacity compared to December 2019

Viva Aerobus, Mexico's ultra-low-cost airline, celebrates its 14th anniversary today, leading the reactivation of the sector by becoming the first Mexican airline to grow its operational capacity vs last year, with an increase of 10% compared to December 2019 In this way, Viva offers 128 routes this year-end (103 national and 25 international), an increase of nine routes compared to those operated at the end of 2019.

“Today we celebrate 14 years of service to our passengers, revolutionizing the aviation industry with a service that provides a safe, reliable option at the best price. Thus, we have contributed to the connectivity, economic development, and tourism of the country. And this year we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening accessible air connectivity that will be key to contributing to the responsible reactivation of tourism, commerce and the economy of Mexico, always putting the health of all first, ”said Juan Carlos Zuazua, General Director of Viva Aerobus.

As a result of this commitment by Viva Aerobus, the new routes from Mexico City to Ciudad Obregón, Durango, Los Mochis and Chicago will begin operations this month. Likewise, the regular routes from Mexicali to Guadalajara and Monterrey, from Guadalajara to Houston and Culiacán, the Ixtapa Zihuatanejo - Mexico City flights, among others; as well as the seasonal ones Monterrey - Los Angeles and Cancun - Newark, and those that connect Chicago O'Hare with Guanajuato, Monterrey, Morelia and Zacatecas.

The new flights from Mexico City are part of the 20 routes announced by Viva during the health emergency. This expansion in Viva's route portfolio was accompanied by the expansion of the airline's fleet, since in the course of 2020 Viva Aerobus has received 5 new aircraft: 3 Airbus A321neo and 2 Airbus A320neo, reaching a total of 41 aircraft. In this way, Viva is preparing for the gradual reactivation of the industry with the youngest fleet in Mexico, whose cutting-edge technology guarantees safety and well-being.

This 2020 has also been characterized by the airline's renewed commitment to flexibility and customer service, offering new programs, products and innovations to benefit the health, economy, comfort and travel experience of passengers.

· Regarding the well-being of passengers and collaborators, Viva implemented the Viva Contigo program that guarantees an operation with unrestricted adherence to all prevention and hygiene measures issued by the competent national and international authorities. As a result, additional disinfection processes were established in aircrafts and common areas, safe distance guidelines, use of face masks, elimination of contact points, and even an alliance with Cloralex, among many other actions.

· Thinking of providing greater facilities in support of the passenger economy, Viva developed Tarifa Zero and TU Aliado. The first is a travel rate that offers passengers, who do not need to carry checked or carry-on luggage, enjoy a discount for waiving their right to carry luggage; it only includes the transport of a personal item such as a handbag or “back pack”. For its part, TU Aliado is the new payment alternative that allows you to book the flight and then pay up to 60% of the cost of the trip, deferring the payment of the Airport Use Fee (TUA) after having purchased the plane ticket and prior at the departure of the flight.

· Regarding flexibility, thus supporting passengers in case of unforeseen events, Viva created the Total Reimbursement flight insurance that, at a very accessible price, protects against eventualities such as illnesses, job changes, accidents, among others; guaranteeing 100% cash back of the reservation. Added to this is the new flexibility policy that permanently eliminates charges for changes to flights; now, passengers who require a change of date, time or route on national or international flights may do so without extra charges, paying only the fare difference, if any.

“We are proud to celebrate our anniversary prepared for the new reality, strengthening ourselves as the most flexible airline in Mexico and as an ally of tourism, one of the great multipliers of the country's development. The more than 2,000 employees of the Gente Viva family are very grateful to all our passengers, whose preference is the engine of Viva Aerobus, a solid and resilient airline. That is why we also want to celebrate them with exclusive promotions” said Juan Carlos Zuazua.
