Iberostar highlights the circular economy in Davos to reactivate tourism

Gloria Fluxà, Vice-Chairman & Chief Sustainability Officer of Grupo Iberostar and named 'Young Global Leader' by the World Economic Forum since 2018, explained during her participation in the Shaping a New Ocean Economy panel the importance of rebuilding a more resilient ocean economy and how blue carbon credit solutions can add value to sustainability in the future.
Likewise, in the Mobilizing Action for COP 26 session, he highlighted the Group's own 2030 Agenda to be a key actor within the tourism sector in the transition towards a more responsible model. In this sense, one of the hotel chain's commitments is to continue mitigating climate change through nature-based solutions. This approach aims to harness the potential of natural ecosystems as solution opportunities. In the tourism sector, and in the hotel industry in particular, we have a unique opportunity to lead the transition to the circular economy with our decisions.
After Davos, Iberostar continues to advance its 2030 Agenda. It is working to be waste free by 2025 and carbon neutral by 2030, source 100% of its seafood from responsible sources by 2025 and invest in the health of the ecosystems around all its hotels, committing to have improved it by 2030, increasing the tourist quality of the destinations.
