The second edition of the Tianguis Turístico Digital has been presented today
The Secretary of Tourism of Mexico announced that it will take place on March 23 and 24 and this time Sinaloa will be the host state
The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, together with the Governor of Sinaloa, Quirino Ordaz Coppel, announced this afternoon the realization of the second edition of Tianguis Turístico Digital 2021, which will take place on 23 and 24 next March, being this state of the republic the host of the event.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) indicated that in the face of the new circumstances imposed by the health crisis and the need to continue promoting the country's destinations, this agency last year implemented a novel strategy that would allow the tourism sector, without exception, have a virtual space to carry out the dissemination, promotion and commercialization of its products and tourist attractions.
He argued that in 2020 the Covid-19 pandemic took global tourism activity hostage, paralyzing one of the most relevant economic sectors with travel restrictions, suspension of flights and cruises, and the cancellation of the most important tourist fairs.
"This is how the" First Digital Tourism Tianguis "emerged last year, held in September, which came to promote and strengthen our tourism, both international and national. The latter, domestic tourism, throughout the history of our sector has been a "cornerstone" in rescuing tourism, even in the most difficult moments, "he said.
He specified that in 2019 domestic tourism meant a total of 258 million tourists, of which 102 million stayed in hotels; and it represented a consumption of 142 billion dollars, which is equivalent to 82 percent of total tourism consumption, which gives a clear example of its importance.
Secretary Torruco Marqués added that the Tianguis Turístico Digital is a modern and efficient promotion strategy that is here to stay, and will be an example of innovation, creativity and adaptation, core elements to face the challenges imposed by the new normal.
"This initiative opens a window of opportunity to bring together, year after year, national and international buyers, visitors and exhibitors, who will be able to do very productive business," he said.
In addition, it has the same spaces and activities as the face-to-face Tourist Tianguis, such as exhibition rooms, stands, regional rooms, advertising spaces, a business table and an auditorium for keynote presentations to see them live and also on repeat.
He recalled that the first edition was a success as it exceeded all expectations. Its results registered: 1,964 buyers from 1,185 companies from 45 countries, including Mexico; 217 exhibitors, including the 32 states of the country; and 27 thousand 539 business appointments established.
Finally, he thanked the governor of Sinaloa for his interest and support in making this second Tianguis Turístico Digital a reality; as well as the network of embassies and consulates of Mexico abroad to add the best buyers that their attached markets have.
"The second edition of the Tianguis Turístico Digital will contribute to our vast natural and cultural wealth continue to be disseminated and admired by national and international tourists, projecting Mexico as a highly competitive destination," he pointed out and added that, so far, it has already been They have 512 registered buyers, 374 companies, 31 countries and 116 exhibitors, so it is expected to exceed what was achieved last year.
For his part, the governor of Sinaloa, Quirino Ordaz Coppel, stressed that the port of Mazatlán today is a safe place, a very attractive destination and has been one of the most rapidly recovered in the midst of this pandemic, thanks to the extraordinary I work where it has been known to take good care of health, together with support for the economy.
“We celebrate that this event takes place, we do not want to be more than facilitators, we know that the name of Mazatlán and Sinaloa is a name that generates trust, it is a destination that generates attraction, because today it is enough to see the numbers, and we are building the most important aquarium in Latin America and that is not just anything, and less in a time like the one we are living in; but it is not only the aquarium, but all the change that destiny has had: the Historic Center, the boardwalk and all the avenues completely transformed, "he commented.
He highlighted that Mazatlán is one of the destinations with the highest private investment at the moment, with the construction of condominiums and department towers, which speaks of the opportunity and the moment that the port is having.
Regarding the format of the 2021 Digital Tourism Tianguis, the governor considered it very opportune that it will be possible to have connected, through the technological means of communication, those who make decisions regarding tourism investments, which allows greater success in appointments business already scheduled.
