The World Travel and Tourism Council reported that the event will take place from April 25 to 27 in the paradisiacal destination of the Mexican Caribbean


The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC, for its acronym in English), reported that from April 25 to 27, in Cancun, Quintana Roo (Mexico), its Global Summit will be held, which will convene the leaders of the public sector and private to generate the platform that allows the global recovery of this industry.

The Global Summit is being organized in coordination with the Government of Quintana Roo in Mexico.

WTTC, representing the global private travel and tourism sector, has made the decision to move its Global Summit from March to April to coincide with the easing of travel restrictions and the beginning of the sector's recovery.

While Cancun is ready to host the Global Summit now, the WTTC is confident that rescheduling the event will allow more international participants to participate and help the sector recover.

The Global Summit will be a great opportunity to showcase what Mexico and Cancun have to offer as a destination, as well as the world-class health and safety protocols that have been implemented.

This event will be held in a hybrid format, allowing those who cannot travel to participate virtually in all panels and conferences.

The annual WTTC Global Summit is the most important travel and tourism event in the sector, where the Presidents, CEOs and Executives of the most important companies in the tourism industry in the world, meet with key government leaders to act on the issues most important of the global agenda.

Gloria Guevara, President and CEO of the WTTC, said: “While Cancun is ready to host our Global Summit as planned, we believe that delaying the event by a few weeks will allow a greater number of people from many more regions of the world to attend the event in Cancun, one of the most recognized destinations in the world ”.

“As the global deployment of vaccination accelerates and international mobility rules are expected to relax in the coming weeks, more people from key regions will be able to participate and join the conversation for the road to recovery,” added Guevara. Manzo.

He assured that the travel and tourism sector has been seriously affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, with more than 174 million jobs lost, which makes the Global Summit more relevant and important than ever.
 
Regarding the event, the Governor of Quintana Roo, Carlos Joaquín González, pointed out that for Cancun and Quintana Roo, the World Summit will be a great national and international platform, which will allow to strengthen the travel and tourism sector in the face of the economic and health situation. that is lived globally.

It is important to guarantee the health security of all the guests and personalities of this event, which is why rigorous protocols and health measures have been implemented that respond to the current global situation.

The World Summit will strengthen the promotion and attract tourism investments for Quintana Roo and other national destinations, which is why the holding of this event is considered relevant.

Carlos Joaquín indicated that without a doubt, the positioning of the Mexican Caribbean destinations in the international market will decisively help the recovery of the sector.

The governor emphasized that a sun and beach destination with open spaces and that complies with the guidelines of the World Health Organization, offers greater reliability for travelers. In addition to this, the natural wonders, the quality of the tourist infrastructure and service, place Cancun and Quintana Roo in a highly competitive situation in the world travel market.
