After working together with the private sector and with a series of measures to prevent and take care of citizens, from this month events with a capacity of 30% of the capacity of the venue will be authorized
The Buenos Aires government approved today the protocol for the prevention and management of COVID-19 cases for the gradual return of associative and corporate meetings and face-to-face exhibitions, scheduled for March. The measure is part of the comprehensive plan for tourist reactivation that the City has been developing together with the private sector and will be applied in convention centers, exhibitions, fairgrounds and rooms or spaces for events in hotels, among others.
“Before the pandemic, Buenos Aires was considered the best city in Latin America for business tourism and one of the best in the world. This is a key measure and the result of joint work with the sector to recover meeting tourism in the City, ”said Fernando Straface, Secretary General and International Relations of the City.
The protocols include a series of measures to prevent and take care of citizens, providing recommendations and suggestions in order to allow an appropriate epidemiological management in the face of the detection of a suspected-confirmed case and its close contacts.
It is worth noting that the occupancy coefficient of the capacity will be a maximum of 30% in relation to the maximum capacity enabled, as long as the establishment has renewals of 40 m3 / h per person, without recirculation. The cap will be 1000 people in this case.
When the maximum authorized capacity of the establishment is greater than 4500 people, the capacity will be 20% of said capacity. In this case, the cap will be 2,500 people.
In all cases, renovations of 40 m3 / h per person must be guaranteed by means of forced air injection and extraction and it will be allowed to complement missing renovations with air recirculation by means of a portable HEPA-type filtering system.
Socialization and exchange meetings may not be generated before, during or after the meeting and in the case of having more than one meeting per day, the entry and exit of the participants between meetings must be carried out with a reasonable time of alternation, which may not be less than 45 minutes.
“This is a first step that will allow meeting tourism to recover. Buenos Aires is a global city, host to major events and a leader in Latin America according to the ICCA ranking. For this reason, we will continue working to consolidate our proposal, which includes a first-rate cultural diversity, infrastructure for events, local talent to organize them and a scientific community to enjoy them, ”said Gonzalo Robredo, president of the Buenos Aires Tourism Board.
According to the annual ranking prepared by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), the City is the best destination in America for meeting tourism, ranking 11th globally. In 2019, 127 congresses and conventions were held: 450,000 people visited the City for business in 2019, which left a total expenditure of US $ 500 million, according to information from the Buenos Aires Tourism Authority.
In addition, in its gradual plan to launch tourism in a safe and responsible manner, the Government of the City of Buenos Aires also approved the protocols for hotel and para-hotel accommodation for tourism purposes, guided tours in the open air, tourist transport, events by streaming, retail stores, where travel agencies are enabled.
Regarding the tourist offer, from the Buenos Aires Tourism Board they confirmed that the City has 10 well-cared outdoor tourist circuits on foot or by bike in all neighborhoods. In addition, museums, open-air shows, the Eco Park, the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve, markets and gastronomic patios, among others, are already enabled.
