Guatemala, Heart of the Mayan World, is a territory of 108,889 km2 and with a population of around 16 million inhabitants; it is bounded to the west and north by Mexico, to the east by Belize and the Gulf of Honduras, to the southeast by Honduras and El Salvador, and to the south by the Pacific Ocean. It is a country with more than 3,500 years of history, with more than 3,000 archaeological sites and a living Mayan culture (around 50% of its population), it is one of the 19 megadiverse countries on the planet and enjoys an extremely spectacular climate.

With this privileged geographical position and its historical richness, it has the experience as host of the meetings industry, to produce and support face-to-face or hybrid events (congresses, conventions, exhibitions and incentive trips). The destination has all the qualities and conditions for meetings and creates the ideal environment to do business, expand the network of contacts, increase the transfer of knowledge and turn incentive trips into an experience like no other.

It has a wide hotel offer that specializes in making its guests feel at home and, in addition, with lounges, a fair center, convention centers and venues in various locations, the necessary technology and destinations and attractions in relatively short distances. that make it possible to achieve the objective of the various meeting formats and all these safe experiences are carried out in controlled environments with strict biosafety measures.

The meetings industry in Guatemala bases its strategy on the objectives of sustainable development in its five foci: people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnerships, being sustainability, security (health, food and cybernetics) innovation and inclusion, major axes under which we accompany vertical and corporate markets, associative, academic, among others, for the development of their economies with a common goal: the well-being of people, in a safe destination offering safe and quality experiences.

In a world characterized by responsible and mutual care, Guatemala as a country and the city of La Antigua Guatemala, joined the countries that have received the Safe Travels seal from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). Likewise, the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (INGUAT) also created the national Biosafety seal that bases its delivery on the implementation of the companies adhering to the Good Practice Guides for the prevention of COVID-19 and other infections.

These guides were prepared for the sectors of: meeting industry, restaurants, lodging establishments, tour operators, travel agencies, tourist guides, tourist transport companies, natural and adventure tourist attractions and tourist marinas. The Bureau of Conventions of Guatemala holds the appointment as Ambassador of the Biosafety Seal whose objective is to accompany INGUAT in the management of the adhesion of companies to said seal

We are sure that by working together throughout the value chain of the meetings industry, observing the provisions of international and local authorities, we can affirm that traveling is safe if we take care of each other and this is innate for our sector.

Guatemala joins in calling all countries to continue developing economies with the support of the meetings industry, where we all work together to demonstrate that our activity is carried out in safe destinations and mainly through safe people.
