Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic meets with main operators in Miami
David Collado has held meetings with businessmen from one of the main source markets in the Caribbean country
Yesterday, David Collado, Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic met with executives from the main tour operators in Miami, Florida. The official said: "It is an honor to have the opportunity to promote my country in this way. In recent weeks we have become their preferred destination."
Collado added: "We will visit all the important corners of the world speaking of the Dominican Republic with love."
The Caribbean country is expected to exceed 200,000 foreign visitors this month, with a strong rebound in the second fortnight, when occupancies greater than 50% and greater availability of open rooms could be observed.
It is worth remembering that between the two previous months (January - February), the hotel sector in the Dominican Republic registered a general percentage occupancy rate of 32.3%.
The province of Samaná leads with 48.2% of hotel occupancy for the month of February 2021, according to the data provided by the Statistics Department of the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES).
For this second month of 2021, Santiago managed to occupy the second position with 47.2% and Santo Domingo with 35. percent.
As for the general average between the two months (January - February), the hotel sector in the Dominican Republic registers a general percentage occupancy rate of 32.3%, recalling that in the first month the general average was 35.8%.
For these first two months of the year, the destination Santiago de los Caballeros registered the highest occupancy rate with 43%, also being the only destination to exceed 40 percentage points. In second place very close with 39.7% is Samaná and in third place is the destination Romana - Bayahibe with 38.9%.
They continue in the same order, Santo Domingo with 35.9% in the case of Punta Cana - Bávaro and Sosúa - Cabarete, both record 33.8% occupancy in their hotel floors respectively. Puerto Plata follows with 31.5% and Boca Chica - Juan Dolio with 28.9 percent.
