Royal Caribbean continues its reactivation in the Mediterranean
A new 7-night itinerary aboard the Jewel of the Seas will be based in Limassol, Cyprus
This summer, Royal Caribbean International passengers will be able to soak up the Mediterranean sunshine and explore the captivating coasts of Greece and Cyprus on new 7-night cruises departing from Limassol, Cyprus. Starting on July 10, Jewel of the Seas will base Cyprus for the first time, sailing along the picturesque beaches and ancient ruins of that country and Greece and its islands until October. Passengers will be able to visit a combination of culturally rich cities and idyllic islands including Limassol, Athens and the islands of Rhodes, Crete, Mykonos and Santorini.
“I am delighted to announce our gradual and safe return to Europe. We know how eager all of our clients have to enjoy a getaway this summer and these cruises, which include a mix of different itineraries and must-visit islands, are perfect for such a getaway ”, said Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. "Cyprus is a very beautiful island and we thank the Cypriot government for their support and enthusiasm for making these itineraries a reality."
Passengers aboard the Jewel of the Seas will be able to enjoy a perfect balance between culture, relaxation, historical destinations, natural landscapes and local cuisine. In addition, they can delve into Ancient Greek and Roman History in places like Kourion in Limassol or the Parthenon in Athens, bathe in the waters of Mykonos or enjoy the seafront taverns of Santorini.
Savvas Perdios, Vice Minister of Tourism of Cyprus, said, “We are delighted that Royal Caribbean is having its home port in Limassol for the first time. This has been our ambition for many years and we are delighted that this dream has finally come true. We are confident that Royal Caribbean's presence in Limassol will be beneficial to Cyprus, and we are equally confident that, as a home port and as a country, Cyprus will meet the expectations of Royal Caribbean and its passengers. "
On board the Jewel, passengers will be able to cool off in its pools, relax in the jacuzzis, "recharge batteries" in the Vitality Spa and Fitness Center and try the different bars and restaurants among which are the favorites of our passengers Chops Grille and Izumi . Along its 13 decks you can also find a climbing wall, a casino, a sports deck, a 9-hole miniature golf, an open-air cinema and many other facilities.
Greek Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis added, “We very warmly welcome the announcement of this new itinerary which will give more passengers the opportunity to have unique experiences in Greek destinations this summer. Our history, culture and famous gastronomy together with our philoxenia will create memories that will last a lifetime. "
For Royal Caribbean the health and well-being of all its passengers, crew and visiting communities is the top priority. Details on the health and safety measures to be implemented will be announced later. Such comprehensive and multi-tiered health and safety measures to be applied will continue to be led by the expert and scientific guidance of the Healthy Sail Panel, the Royal Caribbean Group Chief of Public Health and Medical Director, and local government and health authorities.
In addition, passengers must comply with the requirements to travel from Cyprus and from their place of residence. Cyprus policies in this regard can be found on the Cyprus Tourism website.
Royal Caribbean's new 7-night itineraries from Cyprus are a further step in the Safe Return to Boating successfully launched by the company months ago in Singapore where more than 50,000 passengers to date have sailed aboard the Quantum of the Seas, to this must be added the recent announcement of cruises aboard Odyssey of the Seas from Haifa, Israel, and cruises from the Bahamas aboard Adventure of the Seas and from Bermuda with Vision of the Seas.
