Thu April 01, 2021

The 25th ship in the award-winning fleet will be gearing up for an exciting new vacation when it debuts at its home port of Haifa, Israel, in May and in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in November

Kicking off a long life of adventure, Royal Caribbean International's Odyssey of the Seas completed the final chapter of its construction today. The long-awaited wonder has officially become the 25th ship in the cruise company's award-winning fleet, following a virtual handover ceremony. The Odyssey will now be gearing up to host an exciting new vacation when it debuts at its home port of Haifa, Israel, in May 2021 and in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in November.

Royal Caribbean Group Chairman and CEO Richard D. Fain, Royal Caribbean International Chairman and CEO Michael Bayley and Odyssey of the Seas Captain Per Kristoffersen have received the new ship from Meyer's Managing Partner Werft Yard, Bernard Meyer, and the Managing Director, Jan Meyer, in the traditional handover ceremony which, on this occasion, had a virtual touch.

"Welcoming the Odyssey of the Seas into the Royal Caribbean family is a breath of fresh air. The ingenuity, passion and hard work that our dedicated crew, shore crews and Meyer Werft partners have put into building this new ship, and more so in a situation like the current one, is incredible, "said Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. "We look forward to delivering the vacation we are famous for on a ship that will mark several milestones for us, from making Israel a home port for the first time to introducing the Quantum Ultra class in America. Every new ship is a blank canvas. that makes us be bolder and different,

In a few hours, Royal Caribbean fans wishing to witness the award ceremony will have front row seats at an unconventional Facebook event, the first of its kind in the company's 52-year history. Spectators will be able to enjoy the blessing of the ship in charge of Seafarers' House of Port Everglades, a spectacular performance from the exclusive Two70 aboard the Quantum of the Seas that is currently sailing in Singapore, the presence of the directors of Royal Caribbean in Florida and the Meyer Werft Yard in Papenburg, Germany. The celebration can only be viewed on the Royal Caribbean International Facebook page at 5 pm EDT (Miami time).

Odyssey is the second ship in the Quantum Ultra class and arrives just in time for the summer. The ship will receive the first Royal Caribbean passengers traveling from Israel on cruises where those over 18 years of age and the crew will be vaccinated. Israeli residents will be able to take 3-7 night getaways until October to visit sun-drenched Mediterranean destinations such as Rhodes, Santorini, Mykonos and Athens in Greece and Limassol in Cyprus. Following its inaugural season, Odyssey will go on a transatlantic voyage and debut in North America in November, offering 6- and 8-night Caribbean itineraries from Fort Lauderdale stopping off at paradisiacal locations such as Aruba, Curacao and Perfect Day at CocoCay, the Royal Caribbean's private island in the Bahamas.

Weighing 169,000 gross tons, 347 meters long and 41 meters wide, Odyssey will be Israel's newest and largest homeport and the first of its kind in Florida. A combination of 12 completely new experiences awaits passengers of all ages as well as others already known and loved such as:
