Dominican Republic will host the Annual Travel Planners International Conference

Around 80 travel agency owners and consultants, vacation sales leaders in different cities in the United States participate in the event

The annual conference of Travel Planners International is held at The Grand Reserve At Paradius Palma Real, Hotel Meliá Punta Cana, where they develop a broad work schedule for the promotion of the Dominican Republic, with the collaboration of the Tourism Promotion Office (OPT ) In New York.

The Ministry of Tourism made the presentation of the country in order for the travel agents participating in the event to better know the tourist, cultural, religious, leisure, shopping attractions, as well as the security and implementation and development of protocols provided by the authorities in the handling of Covid-19, which affects the world at this time.

Amelia Rodríguez, representative of Travel Planners International, expressed that this is the first time that the event has been held in the Dominican Republic, and that it was chosen, not only for its beauty, but also for the health protocols and for its clients to see that it can be to travel.

“As a result of the pandemic, after a visit that our vice president of sales made last December to the American Airlines Vacations summit in the Dominican Republic, we thought of a perfect place to hold this event and that is why, we chose this country, ”said Rodríguez.

He also indicated that the event seeks that its agents see the beauty of the country, its great attractions, the warmth and sympathy of the people and the great diversity of tourist offers and thus, they can sell more to the Dominican Republic.

Travel Planners International is an agency in Orlando Florida and has more than 4 thousand agents throughout the United States, has held this event for 10 years where the most valuable agents are recognized, who produce more than 500 thousand dollars a year.

Among the activities to be carried out by travel agents is community integration with the program sponsored by the Meliá hotel, “Travelers with a cause”, where guests make contributions to the local community sponsored by donating high-need items. (articles of personal hygiene, sports, recreational and clothing), and thus connect the part of the trips with the contribution that tourism can make to the development of the municipalities.

On this occasion, it will be directed to children between the ages of 4 and 16 from the »Foundation for a Better World of Homeless Children», in the community of Higüey.

The participants in the conference arrived in the country through the Punta Cana International Airport, where they were received to the rhythm of merengue by the MITUR Folkloric Ballet, directed by Professor Oscar Batista.
