Panama announces new measures for passengers entering as of today
The Ministry of Health announced new provisions for national, resident and foreign travelers entering the country
Executive Decree No. 486 of 2021 establishes that, as of Monday, April 19, 2021, all travelers who have stayed or transited through South America during the last fifteen days and who enter the country, must bring a PCR or antigen test negative made 48 hours before your arrival.
In addition, before registering at the migration post, a molecular COVID 19 test must also be performed at your cost at the Tocumen International Airport. These measures also apply to those who enter through other points of entry to the country.
According to the same Decree, all travelers from South America who, upon entering the country, undergo the molecular COVID 19 test with a negative result, must comply with a three-day isolation period at their home or in a surveillance hotel for non-travelers. COVID 19 at State expense.
Those who, upon entering the country or at the end of their isolation, test positive for COVID 19, must comply with a fourteen-day quarantine in a hospital hotel for COVID19 travelers or where the health authority provides.
Travelers coming from ports of origin other than South America must present a Certificate of Swab Tests / PCR or negative antigen with a maximum of 48 hours, without the need to be tested for molecular COVID 19 at the Tocumen International Airport.
Any traveler from ports of origin other than South America who does not carry the Certificate of Swab / PCR or negative antigen tests, or whose Certificate in the opinion of the health authority does not meet the minimum requirements for validation, will have the obligation to perform a test of COVID 19 at the Tocumen International Airport at your cost.
Passengers in transit to other destinations do not require the COVID 19 test. However, the health authority reserves the right to randomly perform the COVID 19 test on all travelers at the points of entry into the national territory.

The Tocumen International Airport personnel do not intervene, nor are they part of the document validation processes or entry requirements to the country, which in compliance with the law are carried out by the health, immigration or other competent authorities of the Republic of Panama.
