PROMTUR Panama's agreement with Hotelbeds guarantees a minimum of 32,000 visitors this year
The Central American country climbs 7 steps as a tourist destination in the platform's searches
From January 2021 to date, Panama has positioned itself as a tourist destination of interest on the radar of more than 60 thousand buyers in the travel sector, after the signing of a cooperation agreement between PROMTUR Panama and Hotelbeds, the bank of beds more large worldwide.
According to the monthly search ranking of the destination, Panama has climbed seven positions between January and March 2021, being one notch below Costa Rica.
“PROMTUR Panama as a destination marketing organization has made a very positive assessment of the work that we have been able to develop with Hotelbeds in this first quarter, mainly of accompaniment in the markets of the United States, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Argentina, Brazil, France , Germany and Spain ”, indicated Fernando Fondevila, General Director of PROMTUR Panama.
According to the results report, last March the reserves exceeded those of the first two months of the year. However, despite a decrease in this item in February, it remained higher than the volume registered in December 2020 and travelers from the United States represent the market that has increased its reservations every month. Additionally, the month of March represented an increase in sales of 65% compared to February 2021.
Fondevila said that the entire tourism industry is beginning to be reactivated and the most important thing that is being sought at this time is to expand the scope of sales and Hotelbeds is the right partner to achieve this.
Promotion of tourism products and services
The initiative, also presented to the tourism industry, aims to promote the promotion of Panama's tourism products and services in international markets, increasing the number of arrivals to the destination and, in turn, bookings and profitability from the same. As a result of this agreement, it is expected to have an estimated income of 32,000 visitors during 2021, which would represent approximately $ 20 million in foreign currency for Panama.
