La Paz joins the Network of Latin American Urban Destinations
Tue May 04, 2021

The nine member cities of the network held a new meeting to seal the integration of La Paz and receive the new member of the work team, continuing with the aim of positioning the region at an international level and promoting the reactivation of tourism activity

The RDUL is made up of Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Lima, Medellín, Quito, Rio de Janeiro, Santiago de Chile, Sao Paulo and now, La Paz. It is an initiative that began in 2020 as a reaction to the needs presented by the sector due to the health crisis and in response to the call of the Secretary of the World Tourism Organization, Zurab Pololikashvili, to work, beyond borders, in the promotion and reactivation of international tourism.

La Paz joins the RDUL through the signing of a commitment sharing the vision and intention of working together to face the scenario of post-pandemic Latin American tourism. In this way, the Mayor of La Paz, Luis Revilla, said about the sum of the municipality: “We consider that, at this moment, it is strategic to join forces with other destinations in the region to generate a greater tourist movement towards Latin America and towards our city. Visitors from other continents usually arrive in Latin America considering more than one destination at the same time. Furthermore, at this time when the world tourism scene and vision is transforming, the best thing is to work and deepen cooperation ties ”explained the La Paz authority.

The objectives of the RDUL are collaboration in marketing strategies, bilateral agreements and knowledge exchange. Likewise, its actions are primarily aimed at promoting and disseminating it among all participating cities.
The first campaign carried out by the RDUL is called: Live Ciudad Latina, generating the presence of destinations at an international level. “At this time, work is being done on the 2021 joint action agenda, in which La Paz must actively participate for the good of the sector, mainly tourism providers and operators, who need more than ever great support and backing for the reactivation of its economy, ”said Mayor Revilla.

The RDUL has proposed, for the 2021 agenda, the creation of promotional routes that include the 10 destinations, generating tourist corridors for the benefit of all participating cities. It is also working, within the framework of sanitary restrictions that still apply in some places, in the creation of promotional packages and digital cross-dissemination.
