Given the tourist and cultural offer of Barranquilla and its trajectory in the World Travel Awards (WTA); To be awarded as the cultural destination of South America in the last version of the awards, for this year, Barranquilla was nominated for the WTA 2021 in the following categories:
The main destination for meetings and conferences in South America 2021 , in this category it competes with Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Guayaquil, Lima, Medellín, Rio de Janeiro, Santiago and São Paulo.
Main destination for festivals and events in South America 2021 , in this category it competes with Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Lima, Medellín, Montevideo, Rio de Janeiro, Santiago and São Paulo.
The main emerging tourist destination in South America 2021 , in this category it competes with Guayaquil, Montevideo, San José del Guaviare, Santiago de Cali and Santiago.
South American Cultural City 2021 , in this category competes with Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Cartagena, Cuenca, Cusco, Lima, Medellín, Montevideo, Quito, Rio de Janeiro, Santiago de Cali, Santiago, São Paulo.
The winner in each category will depend on the number of votes the destination achieves by travel industry professionals and the public. The call will be open until July 26, 2021, and the winners will be announced on October 16 of the same year.
