FITUR is getting ready to open the doors of its 2021 edition
The fair that starts tomorrow and runs until Sunday brings together more than 5,000 participants from the five continents at IFEMA MADRID
IFEMA MADRID organiza la que será la primera feria presencial del circuito internacional de grandes eventos de la industria del turismo, FITUR 2021 "Especial Recuperación Turismo". Una edición que pone el foco en la reactivación de un sector estratégico para la economía y, muy especialmente, para nuestro país, uno de los más competitivos del mundo en materia de turismo, según el Foro Económico Mundial, y donde la contribución de esta industria ha llegado a representar en 2019, en términos de empleo y PIB, cerca del 13%.

Operative from May 5 to June 4, FITUR LIVEConnect, which works with a powerful search engine and recommendations by Artificial Intelligence, offers the opportunity to generate commercial networking and reinforce interaction with the international tourism community, beyond the dates to celebrate FITUR and face-to-face participation in Madrid.
Participation in FITUR 2021
FITUR, which has a net 44,000 m2 of exhibition space and 7 pavilions, brings together a total of 5,000 participants in this special edition, with representation from the five continents and direct participation from 55 countries, between destinations and companies, of which 37 attend with official representation. An international representation to which the participation to date of 79 nationalities in the digital platform FITUR LIVEConnec is added to its statistics for the first time. In this edition, Georgia will be the great promoter of the Meet & Connect areas and the Wifi network of FITUR 2021 and will have an important role in the International Fair of Tourism, where it will be known as one of the best tourist destinations for 2021. Georgia will be presented at FITUR 2021 as one of the most attractive international territories. This small country offers a great cultural and gastronomic diversity, which adds to its unique nature, where you can enjoy the most adventurous moments and the warmest emotions. Its situation between Europe and Asia offers a perfect marriage between the cultures of both continents.
FITUR will also host major events related to tourism, among them it will host the XII Tourism Investment and Business Forum in Africa, INVESTOUR, which, organized by UNWTO, in collaboration with, FITUR and Casa África, focuses on promote the promotion of sustainable development in Africa, and favor investment and business opportunities. On this occasion, it will take place in virtual format and will be broadcast on FITUR LIVEConnect, on Thursday, May 20.
The UNWTO has also prepared a program of events and activities within the framework of FITUR that, for five days, will bring together different experts to discuss recovery and the sustainable future of the sector, based on the vital role of innovation, tourism cooperation and investment. As a prelude to FITUR, the XXIV Ibero-American Conference of Tourism Ministers and Entrepreneurs, CIMET, will bring together the main managers and leaders of the sector on Tuesday, May 18; will hold panels in collaboration with the UNWTO, on "Keys to Post-Pandemic Tourism", "Investment and Spanish 'Know-How'", "What will the New Traveler be like?" , and will have a Networking space, in which the Ministers of Tourism and entrepreneurs of the Spanish tourism sector will participate, to promote the establishment of Spanish companies in Latin America
Awards and honours
There will be no shortage of awards and recognitions with which IFEMA MADRID, FITUR and various entities want to highlight the effort for the development of tourism activity in different areas. Among them, and for the second time, FITUR will award the “Sustainable Stand” Award, organized with the collaboration of the Responsible Tourism Institute, ITR, in order to underline the efforts of the exhibiting companies to make their presence at FITUR respectful with the environment and climate change, contribute to favor social and cultural aspects, as well as reference to governance and economic issues. In addition, the 22nd edition of the FITUR-Jorge Vila Fradera Tribune Award, convened in collaboration with the Spanish Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism (AECIT), has the objective of improving competitiveness from knowledge, and will reward a research work on tourism to disseminate it among the academic world. Both Awards will be decided during the FITUR celebration.
