Chilean government extends border closure
Due to the advance of Covid-19 in the country, the measure will be maintained until June 30
In the framework of a new balance on the advance of the Coronavirus in Chile, the Undersecretary of Public Health, Paula Daza, referred to the extension of the closure of borders in the country.
"The closure of borders will remain as it is until now, until June 30," explained Daza.
This is how only the Arturo Merino Benítez Airport area remains open for exceptions. Foreigners cannot enter and Chileans who leave will only be able to do so under certain conditions, such as a humanitarian measure, a fundamental task for the country, because it is essential for health or because the person undertakes a journey without return.
Regarding the changes in the state of the communes, the health authority reported that the advances and setbacks in the Step by Step Plan will take place this Thursday, June 10 at 5:00 a.m.
In the daily balance delivered by the Ministry of Health, 6,958 new cases of Coronavirus were reported, totaling 1,434,884 people infected with Covid-19 at the national level, of which 48,596 are active. The deceased reach 30,058 and 121 of them were informed in the last hours by the Department of Health Statistics and Information (DEIS).
Regarding the vaccination plan, the health authority reported that, as of June 6, a total of 11,047,640 people have been inoculated and 8,420,205 of them already have both doses.
