UNWTO organizes the 1st World Youth Tourism Summit in Italy
The event will take place from 23 to 25 August 2021 in the city of Sorrento
The 1st World Youth Tourism Summit will be the first of its kind worldwide, allowing the young participants to be part of a unique experience, with the aim of promoting the participation of young people in the tourism sector and empowering the younger generations to promote a more sustainable world.
The summit is organized by the World Tourism Organization in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Tourism and the Italian National Tourism Board, and has been hosted by the Italian government in the framework of its G20 presidency this year.
Speaking as one
With this initiative, UNWTO joins the rest of the United Nations family in actively recognizing the vital contribution of youth to the continued development of societies.
“Children and young people are not only our future leaders, but also important stakeholders of today, and we can empower and engage them starting today,” says UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili. "As leaders of tomorrow, it is critical that young people are involved in shaping and shaping the global vision of the future," he added.
Through a UNWTO General Assembly model, participants will adopt their own declaration on the future of tourism. The document will be presented at the 24th session of the UNWTO General Assembly (12-15 October 2021, Marrakech, Morocco).
The event will include a variety of interactive activities and will also involve leading world personalities to share their experiences around tourism and areas such as sports, music, gastronomy and the film industry.
