The event has the participation of more than 220 companies from the tourism sector in Mexico 


Yesterday morning, the third edition of the Yucatán Travel Mart, a business meeting for the tourism sector in Yucatán, began, being the 2nd in its digital version. The objective of this event is to generate commercial alliances that encourage a greater flow of tourists and the overnight stay, average stay and tourist economic spillover in the entity, as part of the State Economic and Tourism Reactivation Plan, implemented by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal.

This activity has the purpose of updating the portfolio of services, creating new tourist packages, having organized information on tours, experiences and hotels to provide a better service to regional, national and international tourists; as well as generating a greater exposure of the tourist inventory and increasing the number of national buyers interested in the destination.

Prior to the start of this meeting, Michelle Fridman Hirsch, head of the Yucatan Tourism Development Secretariat (Sefotur), together with the team of the Market Promotion and Intelligence Undersecretariat of the same agency, who are in charge of the organization of this event, they welcomed the representatives and exhibitors of the tourism sector of the State, the buyers from the different parts of Mexico and the invited press.

“Yucatán Travel Mart is an event with a growth trend that strengthens the promotion and marketing of Yucatán. This edition we are growing not only in participation, but it is a faithful example of the decentralized, sustainable and above all inclusive growth that has been promoted by the administration of Governor Vila, where tourism belongs to everyone and for everyone ”. Michelle Fridman, Head of Sefotur highlighted that “as a result of the pandemic, a strategy was developed against COVID, in which together, the severe crisis was faced in a competitive and responsible way with actions to support the industry. This allows Yucatán to be recognized today as one of the destinations with the best biosafety protocols in the entire production chain ”. Finally,

It should be remembered that, in 2019, the first meeting of this type was held in Mexico City with the participation of 47 exhibitors and 70 buyers from Mexico City, which resulted in 840 business appointments and in 2020, for the restrictions generated by the pandemic by Covid-19 and as one more option for the reactivation of the State tourism sector, this event was held, for the first time in virtual mode, becoming the first virtual meeting aimed exclusively at the local industry with the participation of 219 companies from the different sectors of the Yucatan tourism value chain that generated 1,512 business appointments.

This activity was part of the Yucatan Tourist Reactivation Plan and had the purpose of updating the portfolio of services, creating new tourist packages, having organized information on tours, experiences and hotels; organize and recognize its tourist offer and that new agreements and business closings can be generated between the different regions of the state; In addition, it adhered to the calendar of the umbrella campaign "Stay With Yucatán" of 2020, which had a local, regional, national and international chronological scope that involved the active participation of the entire value chain for a prompt and responsible reactivation of the sector.

En la edición de este año que tendrá lugar hasta el miércoles 30 de junio, cuenta con la participación total de 221 empresas, de estas, 117 son expositores yucatecos y 104 más, que son compradores confirmados de diferentes partes de México; se realiza nuevamente de manera digital, en aras de que posteriormente y en medida de que las condiciones lo permitan, se lleve a cabo de manera presencial.

The foregoing goes hand in hand with the last stage of the "Yucatan against Covid" tourism recovery plan, divided into four, being that the first was to put tourism infrastructure and resources at the service of health at the beginning of the pandemic, passing to a second stage, which consisted of preserving the tourist offer and rebuilding the destination, helping not to lose companies or jobs, and later, in a third stage, to start the tourist reactivation gradually, balancing health care and the reopening of activities, to specify the economic recovery of the State in a final stage.

Among the tourist services of the State that will be offering their services, there are land transportation providers, destination management companies (DMC's), wedding planners, medical tourism, cooperatives, cenotes, farms, tourist guides, government institutions, town halls, hotels, marinas, artisans, kitesurf schools, among many others.

On the other hand, among the national buyers are: retail agencies, receptive agencies, organizers of congresses, conventions, exhibitions and incentives; and wholesalers such as Megatravel, Juliatours, Euromundo, Travel Shop, Viajes del Corte Inglés, Go es go, Ferrara Viajes among others.

It is important to note that, since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, Yucatán has been strongly prepared with actions aimed at creating a sense of security and confidence in its visitors and in the State's tourism sector, with the generation of "health bubbles" , which allow travelers to enjoy their stay in a way. These actions are supported by the Certification of the Good Sanitary Practices Program, which is endorsed by the international Safe Travels seal of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), which involve strict biosafety measures and protocols.
