INGUAT begins modernization for online service procedures
The government of President Alejandro Giammattei has opted for the digitization of processes and procedures in State agencies
Article 4 of Decree 1701 of the Congress of the Republic, indicates that the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism has the obligation to register, classify and inspect the operation of tourism companies so that they can operate in the country, from that account the INGUAT registers the following tourism service providers, Spanish as a second language teaching academies, travel agencies, lodging establishments, tourist guides, tour operators, teachers teaching Spanish as a second language and land tourist transport companies.
Currently, the State of Guatemala is developing actions based on information and communication technologies in order to improve services for citizens through the promotion of electronic government. In view of this, INGUAT seeks to promote the modernization and streamlining of administrative procedures digitally for tourist services that are related to the institution.
The general director of INGUAT, Mynor Cordón expressed “In order to facilitate administrative processes with the providers that register in the INGUAT, we are working on the first electronic portal to serve in the first instance, the lodging establishments, registered in the INGUAT records at the national level and in the short term to the rest of the sector, through a computer and the Internet ”.
For her part, the director of product development of INGUAT, Ana Diéguez explained “The platform www.eservicios.inguat.gob.gt will be enabled as of July 1, 2021 and through it, creation and modification procedures can be carried out of users, updating of commercial data, requests for rate increases, authorization of new rooms, cessation of operations, authorization of registration books, among others, prior to obtaining a username and password.
Each legal or individual person must enter the portal and identify their registration data and giving computer validity to their Tourist Entity Number -NET- that was assigned at the time of their registration in the INGUAT records, data that can be identified in the receipt of payment that you have used in the past to carry out the transfer of the 10% that they retain from guests on accommodation.
The electronic procedures portal includes a video showing the steps to follow both for entities that have a NET code and for entities that need to register and access electronic procedures and have access to new benefits that INGUAT will be promoting to through it. In the near future it is expected to expand the facilitation of the processes to other providers of tourism activities.
The modernization of the entity is supported by efforts to comply with the presidential guidelines for modernization and facilitation of access to electronic services to support the streamlining of administrative procedures of government entities.
