Starting this week, the Spanish airline reinforces its presence in Central America by resuming its route from Barajas airport in Madrid to the Hub of the Americas


Air Europa flies to Panama with its best fleet, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, capable of reducing flight time by 40 minutes and reducing its emissions by 20% and its acoustic impact by up to 60%, compared to any other aircraft of similar size. With capacity for 296 passengers the Boeing 787-8, and 335 the Boeing 787-9, both models offer the maximum comfort to the client so that they can enjoy a unique experience on board.

The airline, in its objective of reactivating its operations and gradually resuming its connectivity as restrictions are lifted and an upward trend in demand is registered, decided to resume its route to Panama with two weekly frequencies, specifically on Tuesdays and Sundays, operating on this route 40% of its precovid levels.

The aircraft touched down at the Tocumen airport at 6:50 p.m., and upon arrival a formal ceremony was held that included the reception of the plane with the customary arc of water, a kind of baptism of the aircraft that start or resume a route to a airport.

Carlos Conde, commercial manager of the airline for Panama and Central America, welcomed the attendees indicating that for Air Europa “it represents a very special day, as it marks the beginning of the recovery of the industry after facing one of the deepest crises that has affected airlines and tourism ”.

The Air Europa flight will be taking off at 8:50 p.m., which ensures an excellent connection upon arrival in Madrid through the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport hub. With the opening of this route, Air Europa has been operating more than 80% of its long-haul routes since this week, which it intends to gradually restore in its entirety when the limitations are removed.  

The general administrator of the ATP, for his part, stressed that with the restart of Air Europa flights, the opening of flights from the European Continent to Panama is expanded, thus strengthening the economic recovery strategy in which at the moment The National Government led by President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen is focused and, in addition, he stressed that “with this milestone we are following up on the achievements of the FITUR fair in Madrid in May, where the reactivation of Air Europa flights was announced and announced a joint promotion agreement to reinforce the destination's marketing. "

“Air Europa is an airline of great world prestige and a strong link of unity and social and commercial exchange for Panama. It unites us not only with Spain, but with all of Europe and the destinations it connects. The return of Air Europa strengthens our optimism, as our projections for the recovery of international passenger transport are being exceeded, ”said the general manager of Tocumen Airport.

For his part, the CEO of PROMTUR indicated that at the most important tourism fair in Spain, FITUR, a cooperation agreement was signed with Air Europa and that as a result of this alliance, “a greater knowledge of Panama will be generated in Europe, we will promote more visits from this continent to our destination taking the European tourist by the hand, from the process of knowledge, consideration, planning to the purchase of their ticket and stay in Panama ”.
