Viva inaugurates the Medellín – Mexico City route
The Colombian airline will offer four weekly flights and expects to transport more than 60,500 travelers during the first year of operation
Viva, the Low Cost airline that is committed to the opening of 15 new international routes in three years, is making strong progress on this promise and announces the launch of its new international route Medellín - Mexico City; the fourth international opening so far in 2021. Starting today, it begins its commercial operation with four weekly flights on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. This launch, which is part of the Company's international growth strategy, will connect the Mexican capital with its entire network of destinations in Colombia through the HUB Medellín, the airline's main connection center, and in turn, will provide the option to connect the Mexican market with international destinations such as Orlando, Miami and Lima, and seven domestic destinations in Peru.
“Viva does not stop. This year there are already four international routes that we inaugurate, which proves our commitment to connect travelers from our Medellín HUB with the world. The opening of the Medellín - Mexico City route is essential for Viva for several reasons: it strengthens our Hub Medellín as a Connection Center for the region, which will allow direct connection with 14 destinations in the Viva network; it will allow the mobilization of more than 60 thousand travelers in the first year, contributing to the economic and tourist reactivation of both markets; it generates a greater proximity between Colombia and Mexico, opening more options for business and exchange; and it will allow more Latin Americans to travel by plane, thanks to the Low Cost model that definitely transformed this industry ”, commented Félix Antelo,
This inaugural flight represents an opportunity for the Mexican market, which will be able to find more and better options to fly and connect with the country, in this case through the same and only airline, highlighting the benefits that the Low Cost model brings with it as 'travel to measure' and pay only for the additional services that fit your type of trip. Likewise, it is expected that with the inauguration of this route the well-known 'Viva Effect' will be experienced, that is, a reduction of up to 40% in the price of air tickets, thus achieving that more and more people can access the plane as means of transport, promoting air inclusion in both and flying more.
Viva has embarked on an important expansion process in Mexico, with the purpose of giving more Latin Americans the opportunity to fly with the Low Cost model. In this way, Viva becomes the airline that presents the best connectivity options to the Mexican market. With the direct routes Mexico City – Medellín, Cancún – Medellín and Mexico City – Bogotá, Mexicans can connect with Colombia through the same airline, allowing them to travel with the lowest average rates in the market, as well as the quality of the service, punctuality and security that characterize Viva.
Finally, it is worth remembering that with these additional routes to and from Mexico, Viva registers in its network of connections 25 domestic routes to 12 destinations within Colombia, 7 national destinations in Peru, and seven international routes to five destinations in Peru, Mexico and the United States. United, which increasingly strengthens its growth plans to generate higher levels of connectivity and development in Latin America.
