By choosing the SpaceFlex next generation, the Colombian airline is preparing for the future, when air traffic levels recover
Avianca has selected Airbus Services for a complete cabin reconfiguration of its existing A320 Family fleet. By choosing Airbus' next generation SpaceFlex, Avianca is preparing for the future, when air traffic levels recover.
SpaceFlex next generation is a complex and advanced lavatory and galley (AFT) that allows airlines to optimize the available space in the rear of the cabin to increase the capacity of the seats and / or improve the inclination of the seats throughout the cabin .
Avianca's selection includes two bathrooms, one of them with full access for 'People with Reduced Mobility' (PRM). The new configuration also includes new Recaro seats that will allow the use of personal devices on board, thus adapting to new trends in passenger entertainment for the use of personal devices.
Avianca has based the modernization and expansion of its fleet on Airbus aircraft. In 2015, the airline purchased 100 A320neo, the largest single order in Latin American aviation history, and in October 2017 it received the first A321neo in the region. In 2012, Avianca Cargo, formerly Tampa Cargo, became the first operator of the A330-200 Freighter in the region. Avianca currently operates more than 100 Airbus aircraft, including 10 A320neo and two A321neo.
Airbus has sold more than 1,100 aircraft and has an order book of almost 430 aircraft to deliver in Latin America and the Caribbean. Airbus currently has more than 660 aircraft in operation throughout the region, representing approximately 60 percent of the market share of the fleet in service. Since 1994, Airbus has achieved almost 70 percent of net orders in the region.
