This measure adds to the implementation of protocols in the prevention of COVID-19

The associations that make up the Organized Committee of Crisis of the Private Tourism Sector of Guatemala are pleased to announce that since July, frontline tourism workers have priority for vaccination against COVID-19.
This action is in addition to the implementation of biosafety measures and observation of good practices in the prevention of COVID-19, through the Safe Travel Stamps of the WTTC and INGUAT Bioseguridad, as well as the individual protocols observed by service providers. This allows providing safe experiences in controlled environments for international visitors to travel safely and in an organized manner to Guatemala.
Andreas Kuestermann, President of the Sustainable Tourism Commission of the Guatemalan Association of Exporters and the Guatemalan Convention Bureau, thanked the authorities of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance for recognizing and prioritizing all frontline tourism workers to be prioritized in Phase 3 of the national vaccination plan.
The management and promotion of the private initiative was key to identifying frontline workers, with the support and accompaniment of the Guatemalan Tourism Board (INGUAT).
Vaccination for the tourism sector includes the following business lines: airport workers, hotels, tour operators, travel agencies, restaurants, event and wedding organizers, tour guides, car rental companies, handicrafts, cultural centers, decorators of events, Spanish schools, photographers, museum workers, parks and nature reserves.
Rolando Schweikert, President of the Guatemalan Chamber of Tourism, mentioned that “for our sector mass vaccination and its workers is a priority and we are making rapid progress in the main tourist destinations. This action is essential to regain the confidence of wholesalers and travel agencies around the world to sell tourist programs to visit Guatemala to their clients”.
