IBTM Americas: The MICE segment is back
After a long journey, the sector is operating again, showing that even with restrictions, the recovery is underway
The MICE segment has traveled a path full of adversity from March 2020 to today, but to date it shows its strength by returning to operate adapted to the times. IBTM Americas will open its doors today marking a before and after for our region, it will be a platform for relaunching and will give a perspective of the future of the sector in the short, medium and long term.
The eleventh edition of the event takes place on August 18 and 19 at Centro Citibanamex, Mexico City.
Under the 'Humanize Events' concept, IBTM Americas will provide a platform for meeting and event professionals to connect and meet up with friends, partners and colleagues.
IBTM Americas 2021 will be a special edition that is expected to be attended by around 2,000 people during the two days of the event and 350 exhibiting and co-exhibiting companies with a stand or pavilion where they can offer their products and services. Exhibitors will attend primarily from North America, Mexico, Latin America, as well as destinations in Europe and Asia.
Many international destinations have been confirmed, including several first-time exhibitors. Spain will join its main convention offices. Argentina, Korea and Japan have signed up, as well as cities in the United States, including New York. Panama, Colombia and Cuba will return this year. Peru will be the guest country and will present its tourism offer to the meetings industry.

In addition, we will contribute to Mexico City with more than 4,000 room nights and we will achieve, as an industry, the reactivation of our companies and we will demonstrate that the meetings and events industry is more alive than ever and committed to its economic reactivation ”. commented David Hidalgo, Events Director.
The educational program will include seven special conferences: the Romance Congress, Pharma Congress, Sustainable Events Interactive Forum, Event Design Hybrid Conference, DMOs Day, third MPI International Hispanic Forum and the first DMCs Latin American Congress. In addition, there will be around 40 lectures given by experts in different fields including pharmacy, marketing, weddings, finance, social media, tourism, events and experiences.
The IBTM Americas inaugural conference, presented by the Allenamenti Speakers Bureau, will be chaired by María Scherer, renowned writer, journalist, analyst and speaker. The director of the Proceso magazine, collaborator and host of El Financiero TV María will present a talk entitled: The political Mexico of today: understanding the present to imagine the future.
On Wednesday, Steven Paganelli, Director of Destinations, Hotels and OTAs, Americas Region of TripAdvisor, will speak on "Building Customer Loyalty: Riding the Roller Coaster of Consumer Emotions" and the following day he will present the first conference. From Gabe Zichermann, Entrepreneur, Author, Startup Mentor, and Gamification Expert: "Engaging with the Audience of the Future: Gamification, Digital Addition, and A-Ha!"
The closing lectures will also be presented by the Allenamenti Speakers Bureau. On Wednesday, Luis Fernando Tena, renowned former coach of the Mexican Soccer Team, winner of the gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games and professional Keynote Speaker, will present his lecture entitled “Transcend”. On Thursday Andrés Aguilar, lecturer, consultant and promoter of the culture of peace and joy, will speak about "Contentment Strategy", a conference that will become an experience of analysis of transformation and productivity for organizations.
Comprehensive health and safety measures will be taken at IBTM Americas, including temperature measurement, hand sanitizing points, face masks while on site, and the appropriate physical distance.
