Local and national authorities met to promote the safe reactivation


The Colombian Caribbean region will have a meeting to promote the competitiveness of the productive and tourism sector at an international level.
 
The announcement was made in the framework of the Cartagena Reactivation Fair, organized by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, which brought together regional and national authorities with the private sector.
 
The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, María Ximena Lombana Villalba, met with the Executive President of the Cartagena Chamber of Commerce Juan Pablo Vélez Castellanos to position the Caribbean region as an export platform for goods and services.
 
The Chambers of Commerce of Cartagena, Barranquilla and Santa Marta, and the Investment Promotion Agencies of Bolívar, Atlántico and Magdalena, will participate in the Internationalization Table, which was discussed during the meeting
 
“In Cartagena we have good indicators against COVID -19, which shows that safe economic reactivation is possible and is a fact. We will continue working to position the Caribbean region as an export platform for goods and services, "said Lombana.
 
It was also agreed to unify efforts between the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism and the Mayor's Office of Cartagena, in order to promote the formalization of the sector. tourism and commerce, which have high levels of informality.
 
This is the third Reactivation Fair, whose objective is to create regional spaces for dialogue with the country's productive sector.
 
Minister María Ximena Lombana also announced the return of cruise ships to the country. The first landing will be the Star Breeze, of the Windstar Cruises line, from Barbados, which will bring 312 passengers and 190 crew members to Cartagena on August 24.
 
The reactivation of this modality in Colombia means a great boost to job creation and economic growth in the tourism sector.
