The different programmed actions will take place during the month of September, within the framework of World Tourism Day that is celebrated on September 27
The President of the Council of Ministers, Guido Bellido Ugarte and the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Roberto Sánchez Palomino, presented in the city of Huaral the initiative "Peru is its regions", which seeks to stimulate domestic tourism, adding a set of efforts to disseminate the tourist attractions of the country's regions and guarantee compliance with biosafety protocols.
As part of this, the activities and offers of the actors of the tourist activity will be highlighted: artisans, tour operators, guides, rural community tourism associations, restaurants, lodgings, among others. The different programmed actions will take place during the month of September, within the framework of World Tourism Day that is celebrated on September 27 of each year.
“Tourism is one of the sectors most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. With this initiative we will disseminate the wealth of the regions of our country, its natural, cultural and gastronomic attractions, as well as the details of the tour operators that have obtained the Safe Travels seal. We want tourists to know and enjoy quality destinations and services that comply with biosafety protocols, ”said Minister Sánchez.
For the launch of "Peru is its regions", the authorities arrived at the Retes Gastronomic Boulevard, where they were accompanied by representatives of the local governments and the tourism sector of the Lima Provinces region. In that place it was highlighted that the Mincetur has established as a priority the promotion of the development of decentralized and inclusive tourism, providing support to the most affected actors of the tourist chain and thus contributing to the economic reactivation.
To make “Peru is its regions” possible, the Mincetur has been promoting that the Regional Tourism and Foreign Trade Directorates throughout the country promote and guarantee that the tourist circuits and the different operators that have the Safe Travels seal implement the protocols of biosecurity.
Additionally, through its social networks, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism will disseminate a series of videos with different approaches to publicize the importance of tourism and the actors of the tourism activity. Likewise, various parallel activities will be carried out, for example, the launch of the “Amautas National Prize for Peruvian Crafts 2021”, a boost to the “Somos Artesanía 2021” and “Turismo Emprende” subsidy programs, presentation of tourist guides, among others.
After the presentation of the initiative "Peru is its regions", Prime Minister Guido Bellido and Minister Sánchez toured the Lachay National Reserve (RNL), an area of conservation of our biological diversity, located just 105 kilometers to the north from Lima. The hills are a refuge for the varied fauna of the Peruvian coast and a representative sample of the exuberant vegetation of the coastal hills. During this visit the authorities met with artisans in the area who offer their products to visitors.
"Tourism for inclusive growth" is the motto that the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has chosen this year to celebrate World Tourism Day, which is celebrated every September 27, with the aim of disseminating and sensitizing the population about of the social, cultural, political and economic value of this activity.
