The Guatemalan Tourism Institute has developed different actions to continue promoting the country's tourism offer at a national and international level in this recovery stage and as part of the institutional functions according to the Organic Law, the institution has promoted tourism promotion campaigns. to position the country's tourist destinations, segments and products.
As a result of these actions, the Department of Market Research and Analysis indicates that the country has received the visit of 357,033 international visitors, until August 31 of the year, which has generated US $ 221 million in foreign exchange. Regarding the movement of Guatemalans who have made trips for internal tourism, the statistics reflect 58,638,406 trips, which have left an economic spill of Q 15,592.00 million.
Recognition to La Antigua Guatemala by Leisure + Travel

This activity allowed the directory of suppliers of Weddings of Guatemala to share first-hand information to couples who were in search of suppliers for their wedding or honeymoon. Information was provided to more than 600 couples who will marry at the end of 2021 and during 2022.

Promotion of Guatemala in New York, United States
As part of the promotional actions at an international level, INGUAT promotes in the Time Square in New York the campaign of Guatemala, Corazón del Mundo Maya as a tourist destination in which you are invited to know the cultural and natural offer of the country. 100 spots will run daily on the digital screen in Times Square, an estimated reach of 5 million people from September 1 to 24.
In addition, through Led Trucks circulating in the main avenues and streets of Manhattan and Central Park in New York, it is expected to reach 5 million 344 thousand 787 people. Taxis with rolling visibility have also been included in areas of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx and Newark, to achieve a reach of one million 344 thousand people.
This action coincides with the exhibition of Stela 24 Señora 6 Cielo, a pre-Hispanic work of art of the Mayan civilization that has been exhibited since September 2, 2021, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York -The Met. Progress in the delivery of Biosafety Seals
The institution continues to make efforts to contribute to the confidence of visitors who make use of the different services of the tourism value chain such as accommodation establishments, restaurants, tourist transport, tourist sites, among others .
Through the Tourism Biosafety Ambassadors program, INGUAT has sought strategic allies in order to involve the different tourism sectors so that they comply with, disseminate and monitor the correct implementation of biosafety protocols and thus make tourism responsibly. As a result, to date 1,045 services have the Tourism Biosafety Seal and Safe Travels from the World Travel and Tourism Council.
The role that the organized tourism sector has had in this process has been fundamental for the INGUAT to be able to have a greater reach, in the case of restaurants we are close to delivering 50 partners representing the Restaurant Guilds of the Chamber of Commerce and Guatemalan industry, as well as other services in the value chain.
reactivation The reactivation of the 2021-2022 cruise season will begin on November 2 with the arrival of the Celebrity Millenium ship with 2,100 passengers and a thousand crew members at Puerto Quetzal.
This season will span November 2021 to May 2022, a period in which a total of 45 cruises are expected: 24 in Puerto Quetzal and 21 in Puerto Santo Tomás de Castilla.
During this period, the arrival of 55,768 passengers and 30,749 crew members is expected who will be visiting tourist places such as La Antigua Guatemala, Quiriguá, Río Dulce, Tikal National Park, among others.
