The new state cabinet was recently formed under the mandate 2021-2027 of the Constitutional Governor of the State of Chihuahua, María Eugenia Campos Galván, the first woman in the history of the state to hold that position, whose agenda includes a strong boost to the economic development of the booming state from Chihuahua.
María Teresa Matamoros Montes receives the task of reinforcing the promotion of state tourism, directing this decentralized body of the Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development, supporting with her experience of more than 25 years in tourism, both in the public and private sectors . The state's tourism represents 7.4% of the state's GDP and employs more than 100,000 Chihuahuas in the different tourist destinations.
His profile as a bi-cultural professional includes work for more than 10 years in the United States and 1 year in the main countries of South America. She is an expert in the areas of product development, sales, branding, marketing and destination management and meeting tourism, throughout her career she has worked in the federal government, in state governments, in the private sector and as an entrepreneur. .
Between 2018 and 2020, she held the position of Secretary of Tourism of the Government of the State of Guanajuato. Previously, María Teresa collaborated in the Council of Tourism Promotion of Mexico; where he served in different positions: his inclusion in this body took place through a Selection Contest before more than 20 candidates. From 2017 to 2018 she was Director of Liaison with the Meetings Tourism Industry, from 2011 to 2013, Director of Corporate Meetings and Incentives and from 2006 to 2011, Deputy Director of the Midwest. From 2006 to 2013 he was part of the diplomatic mission of Mexico in Chicago, an experience that allowed him to obtain a broad understanding of the American and international market.
Since her professional beginnings as a Marketer, María Teresa has developed her career in the tourism sector , performing functions in the hotel industry in cities such as Tijuana and Puerto Vallarta;
experiences that have enabled him to develop a broad knowledge of hotel sales and operations, as well as the offer in Mexico and the challenges faced to be competitive on the international scene.
María Teresa Matamoros Montes, holds three of the most respected international certifications in the Meetings Tourism industry: CMM Certified Meeting Manager, CMP Certified Meeting Professional and CIS Certified Incentive Specialist.
From 2009 to 2011, she was the first Mexican to serve as President of the Chicago Chapter of the Society of
Incentive Travel Excellence (Site). In 2018, she was recognized by the “Latinamerica Meetings” Group as one of the “15 Most Influential Leaders of the Meetings Industry in Latin America” and in 2019 she received recognition for her career from the business magazine.
This change represents a strategic alignment towards the economic development objectives of the State,
