Grupo Piñero joins the UNWTO in the commemoration under the slogan "Tourism for Inclusion Growth".

Tourism is undoubtedly an engine of economic and social development. Before the pandemic, this activity generated more than 10% of world GDP, a percentage that is increased in countries dependent on tourism, such as Spain, which in 2019 contributed 12%.
Undoubtedly, the coronavirus crisis has hit the tourism sector hard, which, to this day, continues to be one of the most affected. According to UNWTO data, it is estimated that by the end of 2021 there will be a loss of more than 4 trillion dollars in world GDP. And we must not forget that behind these figures there are many people, it is estimated that this health crisis has put more than 100 million direct jobs in the tourism sector at risk.
Currently, thanks to advances in vaccination, and especially to the desire to travel, we can affirm that we are in a process of recovery. For this reason, from Grupo Piñero we want to join in this very special year the celebration of World Tourism Day, which in this edition is held under the slogan "Tourism for inclusive growth".
At Grupo Piñero we trust in the transformative potential of tourism both in the economy and in its social and environmental aspects, and for this reason we promote human leadership that, aligned with the United Nations 2030 agenda, allows us to advance in a model of responsible tourism and sustainable that can face the current challenges we face such as the health, social and environmental crisis. I am truly grateful and proud of all the learnings and resilience of the entire sector, but especially of our company, of each and every one of the members that make up this family.
From the beginning of the pandemic, we became aware that the most important thing was to protect people, therefore, our priority was to be close to them, to maintain a close and humane dialogue with our employees, our neighbors, our suppliers and with the administrations , that would allow us more than ever to know your needs to find solutions together.
Among the measures taken, priority was given to those aimed at preserving employment and the company's talent in all the countries where we operate, paying special attention to critical groups. Likewise, we continue to collaborate with local communities through our health and safety programs, and support for families and vulnerable groups, in order to alleviate, to the extent of our possibilities, the effects of the crisis.
On the road to reactivation
Today we look to the future with optimism, convinced that together we can rebuild a more resilient, sustainable and inclusive sector. That is why we will work for tourism to regain its position as a provider of employment and income and as a protector of our cultural and natural heritage.
At Grupo Piñero, we are advancing on the path of reactivation. Currently, we already have 13 of our 27 hotels open, and with a reopening plan until the end of the year that will allow us to continue progressively recovering our activity and generating employment. At the end of this first semester we have managed to recover 75% of the jobs.
In this recovery process, strategic alliances have been a fundamental lever in the evolution of our company, such as: the Bahia Principe Golf alliance with the PGA of America, which represents an important boost to the Golf business at the hands of a one of the most important sports organizations at the international level; the Joint Venture between Smytravel and Soltour, from which Soltour Travel Partners arises, which takes advantage of the synergies of both companies; and the recent alliance of Turiscar Ecotrain, with Qev Tech Holding, to offer sustainable mobility solutions in the Caribbean and Brazil.
But, today more than ever, we remain deeply committed to caring for people, and the planet. And we understand that this path must begin with oneself, with all of us, with our families, our neighbors, our community, only in this way will we achieve truly inclusive social development and growth.
