Most of the country's airports expect an increase in passenger movement compared to the same period last year

A survey carried out by the Ministry of Tourism indicates that more than 1.7 million people must pass through the main airport terminals. The International Airports of Guarulhos and Viracopos-Campinas are among the busiest, receiving around 365 thousand and 242 thousand passengers, respectively.

For the minister of Tourism, Gilson Machado Neto, the estimate is encouraging and shows that tourism is returning to what it used to be. “Tourists are gaining more confidence in traveling around the country thanks to the measures adopted by the federal government, which created sanitary protocols and advances, each day, in the immunization of the Brazilian people. We are going back to pre-pandemic levels and we are going beyond, working to see the full potential of our sector become a reality”, highlighted the minister.

According to data from Infraero, around 700 thousand people are expected at the terminals managed by the operator, more than 60% more than registered in the same period last year. Congonhas airport alone awaits 198 thousand passengers, a number 122% higher than that registered in 2020. As well as the São Paulo terminal, of the 37 airports operated by Infraero, 27 estimate an increase in the number of travelers for this year during the 12th holiday. October compared to 2020.

The airports of Fortaleza and Confins (MG) also expect a large movement of people, estimated to receive, respectively, 66 thousand and 110 thousand passengers. Galeão's international terminal, in Rio de Janeiro, awaits 82 thousand passengers during the holiday, an increase of 68% in relation to the same period of the previous year.

Brasília's airport, the country's largest flight connection center, expects a movement of 190,000 passengers and 1,435 flights, with ten extra flights to meet demand. According to Inframerica, which manages the terminal, the movement of this holiday should be 5% higher than the last holiday of September 7th.
